Side effects of Ursofalk

I’ve been recently diagnosed with PBC after positive AMA and liver biopsy. My LFT’s are all in normal range except slightly elevated GGT. I started on 500mg of Ursofalk taken at night. After a week I started experiencing severe pain on my right hand side. I called my gastroenterologist and he told me to stop medication and within a few days the pain went away. Has anyone else had this problem? I’ve had another appointment with gastroenterologist and he’s told me to try Ursofalk again but start with 250mg as this is the best treatment for PBC, I’m just hoping it doesn’t affect me second time round.

I think a lot of us get some side effects in the beginning , I think your gastro has taken the right decision. Starting a low dose and working up to the full dose as your body becomes accustomed to it is recommended.

I had reflux from it many years back when I took it, so I made sure I took it with food, this helped me get past that. It does sometimes give me bloating but nothing that is really worrisome and I still take mine over two doses morning and evening.

Thank you for your advice, I’m hoping slowly increasing my dose will be more beneficial this time round.

Hi, I'm 2 months on ursofalk and I have very bad constipation and weight gain. I get abdo pain but had it before ursofalk.

Hope you get sorted soon.
