Cholurso vs Ursofalk

Hi everyone. I've been diagnosed a year, no symptoms as yet, early stage. I've been on Cholurso which brought my numbers back within range. When picking up my prescription this time the pharmacy have had trouble getting enough pills together for my 3 months prescription and have given me a mixture of Cholurso and Ursofalk. I've never tried Ursofalk and don't really want to do anything different if I've had no difficulties. Should I ask for just the Cholurso or have people had no problems on Ursofalk?

Hi I was on Ursofalk now they give me Cholurso it’s cheaper but I’ve had no side effects google or better still speak to the pharmacist

It’s good you started your pills early Mariontp

I have had my diagnosis nearly 17 years I had to retire from nursing 7 years ago as unable to work, now last 3 years had gallbladder out then my liver bleed but due to wonderful and extremely good medical and surgeons I live to tell the tale. Last 2 years I get anaemic had endoscopy have oesophageal varacies and have had laser done twice awaiting to have it done again very soon. But I plod on.

Don’t let all this scare you if unsure just ask questions, always ask

Good luck Mariontp keep well. Cat19

I've had both and no problems, just the brand names are different, the active ingredients are the same. A few people in the past have said they have had reactions but I think that might be that different manufacturers might use different 'binders' when they make the tablets and folks might have a reaction to that.

Hi Mariontp, I’ve been taking Urso for last 10+ years & don’t have any problem. I’m on 1000mg per day. It lowered my lft’s at first but then they crept up a little again. I’ve learned recently that I am considered a non-responder as my ALphos & ALT did not normalize i.e., ALP & AST count greater than 1.5 times upper limit of normal .... but I am pretty sure that without urso my liver function would be a lot worse. In this country, at present, there is no alternative treatment licensed. All is well when I am working full time & alive & kicking! Best of Luck.
