Ursofalk v Cholurso

I’ve just collected my prescription and I’ve been given Cholurso. I’ve been successfully on Ursofalk since diagnosis in 2014.

The active ingredients are the same but the tablet core and coating are different.

Has anyone else changed manufacturers? Any issues with the new formulation?

Indeed some of us don't like the change you are correct all main ingredients same but colour may affect you . Give it a go if don't feel right and that's all it was with me ask your gp to write on your script the actual make of urso then pharmacist will order your original one X

Like you I had Ursofalk for many many years about 18months ago I started to get URSONORM ( a generic ) Never had any issue with it, but then every time I got a prescription , I was given various different generics never the same one. There was one that caused me to be sick however , it was orange and had sunset yellow in it . However: I’am still struggling with the Gp surgery and the pharmacy not to give me that one, each say the other has to make a note of it, the GP won’t give me the Ursofalk brand and the pharmacy can’t guarantee what generic I will get. Each time the pharmacy give me it I give it back telling them I can’t take it, then reorder my prescription , so what a waste of money.

I then decided to try the liquid form of URSOFALK as I have difficulty swallowing so at the moment its all okay, but I will speak to my consultant and ask her to intervene and get my URSOFALK prescription reinstated. Hopefully she will.

Yes I definitely will be, i can’t see why the GP surgery don’t just give me the Ursofalk. It’s got to be better than wasting money giving out tablets that won’t be used. I do have sicca or as it was termed ‘secondary sjogrens’.

I think the GP just prescribes the Ursodeoxycholic acid but the pharmacy administers whichever generic brand they have in stock.
