Hi does anyone else suffering with PBC have any issues with staying warm at different times? I’m either melting or so cold my feet and ankles are icy cold.
Cold!: Hi does anyone else suffering with PBC... - PBC Foundation
Cold!
I always used to run hot but now I am past menopause age and have lost quite a bit of weight I find I am more often cold and find it difficult to get warm even under the duvet.
Hi ButterflyEi, I’ve lost over a stone in last few months, possibly all linked. I’ll just have to stay cocooned to keep warm, thanks Jane xx
Hello butterflyei, i have the same problem, only i am cold all over, even i f i take a hot shower, not everyday but sometimes, it takes me awhile to warm up,sometimes i think it's related with depression, anxiety.
interesting questions and comments. I do have the feeling of hot sometimes but i think it is menopause related. i also do have times when my feet and lower legs have been unusually cold, but it has been while in bed, and i have been too tired to make an effort to get warm. (it is summer though, and the environment i s not cold, so it is odd).
Have you gotten your thyroid checked? Could be a hypo thyroid.
Hi Ninjagirlwebb, I have hypo thyroid. But the cold seems to be affecting me more lately. Jane
Yes... Especially cold... I think a broken temp gauge is another symptom...
Def worse if I've done more or just eaten.
Sure my system does not have the capability of doing 2 things at once. Also once cold I find it nearly impossible to get warm again!!!
Hot flushes just as bad... Which may be put down to the menopause but.. I don't think it's that.
Sorry... I have no solutions...
Best wishes cazer xx
Cazer, that’s exactly what I’m like. There seems to be more symptoms appearing daily. Jane x
I’m freezing all the time , it’s terrible
Hi Arlie, if I’m staying in the same place and not moving much I seem to be ok. Once I move about or god forbid, go outside, then I’m chilled to the bone, Jane
I get that - takes a very long time to adjust to temp change. I need to be dressed for the outside weather/temp for several minutes before ready to go out otherwise be quickly shivery and sneezy when I leave house. Reverse when I return, have to strip outer clothes off fast after coming indoors or get too hot and uncomfortable. Always have to wear woollen socks even in bed or feet stone cold. Never used to have cold feet and never had body temp issues even with menopause. PBC = Poor Boiler Control?
Yes I get that, I’ve gone past menopause so know it’s not that. I have reynards syndrome too now.
Hi, P13jne,
I’m cold ALL the time, too. I don’t know if it is PBC-related. I have lost a lot of weight over the past few years so perhaps a low BMI is part of it. The best thing I have found lately is the purchase of a battery-heated vest. It’s made a huge difference. I’ve also purchased a heated throw/blanket which is also great. I also wear thin down-jackets under my outdoor coats. For your ankles, you could buy some ankle-warmers that are similar to what dancers use. I bought some very cheaply from Primark a few years ago.
The strange thing is that if the weather gets above about 80 degrees F I am suddenly so hot that I can’t stand it. My thermostat is definitely not working!
Let us know if you come up with any other solutions. Good luck!
I too am either freezing or boiling! I believe it's linked to the PBC but also that thyroid meds can cause hot flushes (I'm way past menopause so it's not that). Drives my husband mad when I keep altering the central heating or car heating controls!! Such fun - not!
I am always sweaty. So much so my hair is always soaking. It's so embarrassing
