Jenine did you try cold bathes? And lowering yur AC. I know when I start feeling the burning I drink water and don't stop and lower my AC. I'm not really having this symptom yet but I plan on talking to my dr about it tomorrow. I hope to God that you can get relief

I'm so sorry that you and all my liver family have to suffer with this symptom. A.C is abbreviation for air conditioner in America. I'm not going to forget to ask my dr at Mayo. I emailed him a list of questions that I have already and he answered me back already. Staying cool really helps me a lot. I get a burning feeling. Maybe from the prednisone or azathioprine

Hi janine541

Before I was given my current medication to relieve the itching I used a 2% menthol cream which gives some temporary relief. I also used a strong antihistamine (Cetirizine as prescribed by my GP in the UK) which seemed to help me sleep. I also kept an old hard flannel which made a good scratcher without tearing the skin. Cold baths have been suggested by some but I used ice directly on the itching areas. Some have also suggested epsom salts in the bath water have helped them - this is something I did not try.

If you are not a member of the PBC Foundation already, (free to join) it is worth signing up to their web site which is full of useful information in the members section. If I remember correctly there is a great article on itching in the Bear Facts Magazine of spring 2015 in which Prof. Neuburger gives a good indication of current treatments. It might be helpful to print it off and give it to your doctor if he is receptive to advice.

I hope you managed to get some sleep, although I know it is pretty difficult.

let us know how you get on

best wishes

Hi thank you. Been for my blood tests today and awaiting doctor to ring back now to give me something.

Not sure about a dry flannel. I could do with a hard brush we use for the garden to scratch with.

Thank you for your support
