Hi all going for a bone density test Thursday. Has any one had one and do you get the results when your there?

Do you mean a dexa scan if so yes had one three years ago but didn't get results till next seen doctor. On the waiting list now for another one.

Yes thats the one. And im hoping the results are quick. Ive only just seen my consultant

Yes. I am in US and have it done at a radiology facility & you can’t get the results until it is reviewed & evaluated by the radiologist who sends the report to your doctor. It takes anywhere from 2-5 days for results.

In case your doctor didn’t tell you, don’t take any calcium supplements or multi vitamins with calcium 24 hours before the test. Otherwise, test will not be accurate.

Are thankyou for that. No he never mentioned it. Although my vitamin d is low im allegic to the supplement

Had a couple and got the result when I next saw the doctor. Nothing to it😃😃😃

My Dexa is done in doc’s office just before I see the doc so I get results same day.

Thanks Ninjagirl for the heads up about Calcium influencing Dexa. I never knew that.

Yes I have one every two years and get the results immediately. Get given a print out with the results also . At the last one it was showing borderline readings for osteoporosis .

I am inUS. I see the Endocronologist right after scan and get verbal results. The written report comes about 2 weeks later

Hi I had a bone density scan back in March, very easily done not had my results yet but I’m due to see my consultant June/July.
