There are often new interesting papers on pernicious anemia. I will add them to this thread to keep them all in one place. I'll try to the pick the ones I think are most novel & relevant, but plenty are published every month. To see more, check Google Scholar scholar.google.com/scholar?... and you can even set "alerts". Feel free to add to this thread.
So far I have:
- Thein H Oo, "Nonhematological Manifestations of Pernicious Anemia", Discovery Medicine, Dec 2022discovmed.com/EN/Y2022/V34/... -> Full text available: click on PDF. Discusses Neuropsychiatric, Gastrointestinal, Cutaneous, and Oral, and some other manifestations of PA
- Soltani et al, "Pernicious Anemia Following COVID-19 Vaccination: A Report of Two Cases", International Journal of Hematology-Oncology and Stem Cell Research, May 2023 ijhoscr.tums.ac.ir/index.ph... -> Full text available: click on PDF.
- Fraile et al, "Autoantibodies to intrinsic factor can jeopardize pernicious anemia diagnosis: a case report," EJIFCC Jul 2023 ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl... -> Full text available. High IF Abs caused a false normal B12 test in this case study. True low B12 levels were found after filtering blood through polyethylene glycol - same procedure used to eliminate MacroB12 molecules. Other extensive testing was conducted.
- Yocum et al, "Primary Neurologic Symptoms: Have You Considered Pernicious Anemia?", The Journal of Emergency Medicine, Feb 2023 sciencedirect.com/science/a...-> No full text available. Checking for PA in the ER/A&E - Sally Pacholok would like this one!
- The two papers examining PA patients' experiences with health professionals "Receiving a Diagnosis of Pernicious Anemia: Exploring Experiences of Relationships With Health Professionals" and "Examining the Diagnosis and Treatment Experiences of People Living With Autoimmune Gastritis and Pernicious Anemia" in this thread: healthunlocked.com/pasoc/po... -> Full text available for both

I was intrigued to see the quote “Living with Autoimmune Gastritis and Pernicious Anaemia” . I thought that Autoimmune Gastritis was the new and more accurate name for Pernicious Anaemia , as used in the new NICE guide lines that will be published next year .
Thank you so much jade_s . You are a fantastic help on this forum .
Thank you Wedgewood, it is thanks to you that I've gotten healthy enough to help! 🤩 Especially, exactly 7 years ago to the month, when I was so ill and had high b12 levels, but you reassured me it could still be B12 deficiency. And then helped me buy everything. I will always be extremely grateful to you 🤗
Awesome. New document made here - Dissertation References.
🤔 #awkward. Please may you consider that I ‘follow’ you because of the scientific contribution you bring to the community and posting up to date research.
One of my favourite places are libraries but then it really is a case of which book first. 😄
Ok ok i've changed the settings, follow away. I appreciate the kind words x
Yes seriously so much to read, so little time (and brain capacity) 😂 My mother would take me to the library. I'd fill a large bag with as many books as I could. She'd go grocery shopping and do other errands and I'd sit in the car reading the whole time. When we got home she'd have to literally pull the book out of my hand to get me in the house. LOL. I still can't read like that anymore, but getting there
🤣Thank you very much. I have never FOLLOWED anyone before. I don’t use social media. I like my own thoughts and having a PRIVATE life. Yes that ability to be a sponge and absorb so much ‘stuff.’
Same as you, even as a teenager, my parents would ask where I was going. One word, OUT. I may run around the park, play on the swings and slide. Then bring home loads of books.
