Intrinsic factor test

I have recently had the result of an Intrinsic Factor test. The normal range is listed as between 0 - 6 u/mL Mine was 480 u/mL Is anyone able to advise the relevance of this please as it appears quite extreme. Thanks

I asked about b12 but was told normal range( 260), I begged for intrinsic factor test and it came back positive! I had the loading doses then they stopped it, and said 3 months despite me saying nerve pain was still bad, particularly mouth although i ddid have more energy.

hi all, I have been experiencing a number of health issues recently and have had an Intrinsic factor antibody test. Please see photo for result, is this a positive or negative result? I am so poorly and just looking for answers. Any words of wisdom would be appreciated

Hi, I've had one Intrinsic factor test before which came in under range. I know its a test that can take a few times to show up.pisitive & kick myself for not trying it again before this loading dose.

I know this isn't uncommon from what I've read on here i just don't understand the doctors logic, I think it's because I had a negative intrinsic factor test ages ago, can absorbtion issues still be a problem even if I don't have PA?

recently had the Intrinsic Factor Antibody test and Paretal antibody test. IF antibody was unequivocal and the Paretal AB test was positive. Ii was immediately diagnosed with Pernicious Anemia. It took 3 years to get diagnosed.

I had injections for a year and at some point during that year they did the intrinsic factor test, which was negative. So as far as my doctor thinks that means my problem is dietary despite my telling her I'm closer to a carnivore than a vegan.

Hi, In May 2021 I had the intrinsic factor blood test and my results were as follows. 89 u/ml. With a normal range of 0-24 u/ml. And the following notes.

Factor, he said there was no indication this could be Pernicious Anaemia.

Hi, my GP recently stopped my B12 injections which I have been having every 3 months for the past year as my intrinsic factor test was negative.

Apparently my b12 is normal (359) still waiting on intrinsic factor test to come back. Thanks

My GP agreed to do an intrinsic factor antibody test. The test he did was IgA and the results came back as within normal range.1.10gl normal range 0.8 to 4.0 . Was this the correct test for pernicious anemia? Thank you

Very low B12, below limits of the test, but no antigens to intrinsic factor and negative on caeleac disease. Cant fault the GP but feels very limited what they will provide, essentially case closed 3-monthly b12.

How long does it take for NHS to run this test? I had the test done last Tuesday, but the results are still not showing on my records.

I seem to be at a sticking point with the findings of the intrinsic factor test. This is due to the way they now interpret the test results. My test result was Au/ml 1.63 ... Which I jumped with joy over as I thought "at last, this proves I have been telling the truth". How wrong I was.

A vitamin b12 blood test said bad intrinsic factor and this must mean pernicious anaemia with a regular injection of b12. Ive had these three or four times and still dont feel right. Can anyone tell me the answer to my question?

Hi all! So following my Medichecks results I made an appointment to see my GP. Medichecks put on my report that my folate was low at 8 (range 7-35) but they count 7-13 as being deficient. My active b12 was 53.6. Medichecks suggested I get an MMA test as my result although in range is at the lower

I was diagnosed with Pernicious Anaemia in 2018 but was not aware that I needed injections for it, so took oral supplements instead. I switched GP's a few years ago and asked for injections when I became aware that they were necessary. The GP I spoke to did not accept that I have PA, because my labs
