Expiration date

After reading about the (supposed?) shortage of B12 in UK, I, too, am wondering if PanPharma’s shortened expiration date from 2 years to one year has contributed to this perceived shortage. Have we gotten the final answer on why PanPharma shortened their expiry date? Does anyone know if the inactive ingredients of the old stuff (2 year) serum was the same as the new stuff? I posted yesterday that their new B12 has sodium chloride, sodium acetate, acetic acid and water as added ingredients to the hydroxycobalamin. It’s hard not to panic and buy a lot but with a one year date, I fear I would be throwing it away. I recently increased the frequency of my injection, so I will now be needing more than I anticipated but I just got my new ampoules last week. Hard not to worry with these supply issues and regulations changing from one country to another …

Yes the ingredients are the same. I have a post from ~5 years ago about rotexmedica, i can try to find it back. I haven't noticed any difference in efficacy. The date thing is weird tho. Last Jan i was getting 2/24s, now it's all 11/23s. I scoured various gov't and news websites and didn't find anything about a shortage, not in the UK, EU, or US.

The 2/24s i got were all 100 packs tho so maybe it's related to that. No clue.

Maybe there are still supply chain issues or some internal changes like uprading manufacturing. A few weeks ago i went on the panpharma site & didn't see anything but worth checking again. I can think of a million reasons that are not nefarious. Anyway this is all conjecture.

I don't think they shortened exp date, and maybe they overproduced the 11/23s. I don't have old boxes anymore to compare (oh wait, i might actually!) I could compare lot #s. In theory the lot #s on the 11/23s i got *last year* should match those from this year so at least it would show they're not shortening the date. Tomorrow...

I couldn't find any 11/23 boxes from earlier this year/last year but i think they were the same.

Current 11/23s just shipped last month have lot # 00720

The 2/24s from earlier this year are lot # 10052.

So i don't think they're making new ones with a shorter date, but sending old stock.

This makes a lot of sense, Jade. Thanks. It’s unfortunate because I hen I ordered this last batch I was really hoping for a longer expiry date (like everyone else here) I have come to realize since all these shortages in all areas of consumerism, that checking expiration dates is always wise.:.for everything.

Hi EiCa, I just got my order from unserekleineapotheke.de/pro... (who say they ship to the US. They will not deliver to the UK!).

Unfortunately still the 11/2023 expiration date. But packaged as packs of 100 like the old days (no clinical pack sticker)!

For anyone else trying to order: the maximum drop-down quantity you can select is 20, but then you can increase it in the shopping cart. I did that and they sent 30 boxes without problems.

I will try again in a few months and if the expiration date changes and I remember, I'll let you know! (I try to build up stock for the summer months because I inject so frequently plus supply family members, and I don't want to order when it's hot out).

Sorry, not meaning to steal this thread, but is there only shortage in the UK, or is it also in EU? Otherwise German pharmasist is possible?

There's no offocial shortage as far as i can tell. It's because another member's doctor claimed that there was. Plus versandapo & other german pharmacies keep running out of stock. If there is a shortgage, it seems confined to the Panpharma brand. No issues with Hevert, Pascoe, or any cyano brands. So who knows.

I used to get 1ml ampoules from Pharmasana Germany but they stopped them. Have bought cyano from Thailand with expiry 2027. Not ideal but better than nothing.

Incidentally, Pharmasana stated that my current stock that expired in June 2022 would be good for a least a year but would slowly become less effective, though never harmful.

Hiya I just found this german pharmacy and it looks like they will ship panpharma to the US. unserekleineapotheke.de/pro...

I was able to register with a US address but I didn't put the order through.

I will order some now (not in the US currently) and let you know what the expiration dates are when I get them. They're only 6.77 per box so probably old stock?
