Magnesium stearate & Magnesium citrate
Thanks fbirder . I thought it would be ok but just wsnted to check. I have taken one today and hope to continue on these. I am due a hydroxo injection in 2 weeks, but have bought these as I definitely need more help. Are tese okay to take as well as the injections ?
No you need magnesium like b12 you can't od on it.
Mag Stearate is just a filler and is nothing, so it will be doing nothing for your magnesium levels. Stick with your Mag supplement. Mag deficiency can cause a lot of the same symptoms as B12 def.
You can take too much mag, but not from the levels you mention. If you do take too much, you'll know because one of the first signs are stomach ache and/or loose bowels. Happened to me the other day. Two or three days on and I'm fine.
Take care.
The magnesium in magnesium citrate is not very available to you and even less so as magnesium stearate so you are unlikely to get too much this way.
From my reading magnesium as the citrate has a bioavailability of 90%.
I was given some by a friend who hadn't got any benefit from it and I tried it and found it to be useless. Someone posted a list which I will post separately in a minute which suggested that it wasn't very good and other things I read fitted the list. I'd love to hear your views on it.
Or maybe I won't! Before it was possible to attach a picture from a file but now I can't see how to do it.
Any suggestions?
I've been taking magnesium citrate powder (better absorbed apparently) for a while now and have never felt so calm and relaxed. It turns out the meds I was on for high BP deplete magnesium, which actually causes high BP. BP has gone down and I've been able to drastically reduce the meds which had nasty side effects.
I'd recommend Dr Carolyn Dean's book, 'Invisible Minerals, Part 1 - Magnesium', - quite an eye opener -and 'The Magnesium Miracle'.
It seems that most of us are deficient in magnesium owing to diminished amounts in the soil. If we're B12 deficient, we're probably also deficient in magnesium and other essential vitamins and minerals - many of the symptoms of B12d and low magnesium overlap.
Among the best reasons for taking magnesium is that it's said to improve wrinkles 🤗 and dark chocolate is also high in magnesium 😍

I was thankfully aware of the effects of magnesium from my animal nutrition work and really appreciate your excellent post and links, thank you.
There is an online "Magnesium Advocacy Group" who get very excited about magnesium and this was where the picture I have originated from (although their website has changed and I can't find a link to it now!).
Thank you, Polaris! x
