Hi, over the last couple months I’ve been getting pains in my chest, Rib area and Back, some days I feel ok but other days not so good, laying down at times can be very uncomfortable, I’m not 100% sure but think this may all of started after I cleaned my windows a couple of months ago, but has come on slowly, Paracetamol and ibuprofen help to ease the pain, I spoke to my GP on the phone and she thought my symptoms sounded like a chest infection that could of been brought on by long Covid, she put me on a course of antibiotics which I’ve now finished and nothing has changed, I have days I feel fine , like yesterday I was fine all day and this morning I woke up with a pain on the right side of my chest, and right side of my back, I don’t feel ill it’s just aches and pains coming and going, I did two Covid tests recently which were both negative.

Does ibuprofen relieve the pain? If so ,then it is likely a muscle strain from the window cleaning.?

Ibuprofen and paracetamol does ease the pain most of the time, I’ve been reading up on Costochondritis and it sounds a lot like what I’m experiencing, especially if this all started after I cleaned my windows but I can be totally sure, I do remember having arm shoulder and chest pain the next day but I was ok after a couple days but maybe it’s what started the Costochondritis off as that can come on gradually, and the pains come and go which is also another symptom of it, thanks for the reply 👍

It could be a muscular problem brought on by stretching while cleaning your windows. If so see a good sports injury massager or it could be indigestion/acid reflux/acid stomach a bit like heart burn. Problems in your stomach can cause chest and back pain. I get it sometimes. It can feel really severe.

Has a Physio accessed you ? They could review your soft tissue as wells as the skeletal areas it is affecting. Their are nerve that radiate from your spins and follow the ribs that can be irritated by inflammation. Some people suggest Costochondritis and that should be something worth investigating. Equally if the inflammation is close to any never points it can radiate either way down the branch ( along rigs or into facet joint location

I havnt seen anybody only spoke to my doctor on the phone, she put me on a course of antibiotics because she thought it might be chest infection due to long covid, guess work, they didn’t help so my next step is a chest X-ray to see if that shows anything, that’s on Monday, then I’ll take it from there, if the X-ray shows nothing I’ll then suggest Costochondritis to her as it hasn’t been mentioned yet, thank you for the reply.
