How long have you been on this regime? Who prescribed it for you?

Well over 12 months and my GP prescribed it

Ask your gp to refer you to a pain specialist (The best ones are anaesthetists), if possible, it may pay you to go privately, so you can see the consultant, in person, and not a member of their team.

I am surprised that your pain relief is only Morphine based. The only problem I found, when, like you, my pain relief was Morphine based, was that if I was awake I was in pain. There is so much more analgesia around now, that Morphine, is being reduced or replaced in most cases. Please ask to see a pain specialist.

Hi I'm a newbie too on here. But i wanted to reply to you, i can't offer you any advice only moral support really. Where do you have your terrible pain? Will you go back and tell them the pain relief isn't working, and is there anything else you can try?

There is so much more to try that it’s impossible to mention without knowing a lot more of the medical history. But you can always ask to be referred to a consultant or specialist.

I know it may sound expensive but, if you can spend about £200 and see a consultant privately, it will take months off the waiting time. Also, you will see the consultant and not a member of the team, who will then refer back and you return in 4 weeks and then try something. It really is worth the money. I actually don't have any faith in the pain clinics, although some of the clinicians are really good, when they have the time to work on and with you. (privately, of course).
