Random Headache pains.

For the past few days I've experienced a new set of pain in my head. I usually get a lot of head aches/ migraines but this is different. sharp pains will hit me out of nowhere in different areas of my head. Mostly in the left side and back side. It last for only a few seconds. It started with a very painfully sharp kind of pulse in the lower right back of my head. The other times weren't as bad as the first. What could it be?

Trapped nerves is by guess, but, if you're worried, go to your GP!!

If it's like sharp pins and needles, it could be too much pain relief medication in your system. That happened to me many years ago. But best vist your GP for an opinion.

I also get this but not sure what it is. I presumed it was just part of Fibromyalgia

See both a chiropractor and Alexander teacher to look for neck tension and postural problems. Report the change in pain symptoms to your GP so that the GP can check for anything untoward.

I get it too at random times and have just put it down to the joys of fibromygelia. I always drink a pint of room temperature water when a headache starts just to make sure it's not dehydration.

My headaches have been plagued with these types of pains but I get sharp and searing pains without a normal headache too. My rheumatologist is testing me for trigeminal neuralgia. Definatly worth a trip to the gp for advice. Good luck with it.

I get them all the time too

These are called "Ice Pick" headaches, and the name is very accurate. Unfortunately they are common in people who have other headache conditions such as migraines and cluster headaches, the good news is they aren't linked to any serious health conditions, the bad news is they are by their nature, difficult to predict and therefore you can only treat them when you get the pain with simple over the counter remedies. If you have not told your Dr, or if they are a new addition to you problems(oh joy) you should mention it the next time you see your G.P.

Was just going to say what thiskittybites said, dreaded ice picks, common with mirgaine sufferers.
