Hi Ladies

Meeting with consultant gave the news I was dreading. Weekly Taxol had not worked and the scan showed slow progression of cancer.

No more chemo options but given Letrozole to try and slow things down.

She is contacting another hospital to discuss any possible trial options.

Still hoping!

Hope everyone keeping well

Janet

Thanks for reply. Chemo worked really well until the halfway point when things started going downhill again.Hopefully there will be a trial out there.

Take care

Hi Janet. This is disappointing news but I'm glad you still feel hope and are looking for trials. I see many references to trials for drugs that are totally different from what we're familiar with. I hope you can find a good one! Lots of hugs.

Still hoping. Thank you

My heart goes out to you, Janet, and it’s a reminder to me that my own treatment (3rd line Paclitaxel) may not be as successful as I’m expecting.

Please keep us posted on how you are doing. I hope your oncologist finds a trial to suit you. You will have support here but I’m hoping you have your home safety net in place, and ways to counter this horrible disappointment.

My fingers are crossed for you, hopefully your oncologist will find something,

Sending hugs 🤗🤗

Hi IrisDiagnosed in 2016 and had 5 lots of chemo.

Still hopeful there is something out there.

Lots of luck with your chemo.

I was diagnosed in 2016 too. It looks like I’ve been luckier with my treatments than you have, but really it’s the quality of our lives that counts.

Treatments that cause nothing but pain stop us enjoying life but as long as we can still enjoy the company of loved ones and have activities that bring us joy a bit of pain and discomfort are bearable, I think.

Hi Janet

Sorry you are in this position. I am exactly the same and have spoken to a hospital this week and am waiting to hear when I can start a trial. It all sounded very positive.

Fingers crossed for both of us.

Hugs

Sorry to hear your news. Glad your consultant is working on it though and hope you find a trial very soon.

Good luck with the Letrozole.

Thank youJanet

Hi Janet - my CA125 has risen again on weekly Taxol so I think it has also stopped working for me. I hope the Letrozole works well for you and if not trials are now opening up again, we must continue to keep hoping, I for one would really like some extra time outside of lockdown. x

in reply to

Hi LynFingers crossed your CA125 is just a hiccup.

Been reading up on Letrozole and it sounds promising while waiting to find out about a trial.

Wishing you lots of luck

Love

Janet

Sorry you didn't get the news you wanted. As regards Letrozole just wanted you to know that I have been on Letrozole for 2 years and 2 months and so far 🤞 every scan is described as stable. There were a few side effects at the start, headaches, hot flushes, but these gradually eased off after the first 4/6 weeks. Best wishes.

in reply toHaeh

HiThat's brilliant news. Not heard of anyone else using it.

Thanks so much and long may it continue working for you.

Hi Janet, I didn’t have too much Ascites when I was diagnosed. I was very bloated and it was mostly the disease. It can be so uncomfortable. Hope you will feel better with your new treatment. Donna xx

Hi Janet, I was put on letrozole following my first line and was on it for over a year with very little side effects at all. I was then changed to tamoxifen but that was a disaster! Hope it works for you. X

in reply toKkaren

Hi KarenThank you , fingers crossed. Heard a couple of good things about Letrozole so still a bit of hope.

Think I'm just worn out with the chemo at the moment. Looking forward to getting into the garden soon.

Take care

Janet

So sorry Janet, similar thing happened to me just yesterday. Taxol not working any more. Progressive disease but I have been offered Carboplatin. Not convinced it will work but at least I’ve been offered a kind of lifeline. My oncologist doesn’t particularly agree with trials so hopefully you’re oncologist will find something wonderful for you. You’ll be feeling like I do right now and it’s not good but we’ll get through it one way or another. All the best

Angela xx

in reply toGemimablackvelvet

Hi AngelaI am deemed platinum resistant therefore no more chemo. Heard a couple of hopeful things regarding Letrozole so fingers crossed.

Carboplatin worked really well for me previously so hope it goes well for you. At least we are still trying.

Just had an hours FaceTime with my 10 year old granddaughter which convinced me I am certainly not ready to give up!

Best of luck with everything.

Janet
