I was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer in March 2019. Extremely ill with massive ascites. Had 3 rounds of caboplatin & paclotaxile. Surgery then 3 more rounds of chemo. Was told in october I was clear of everything. But unfortunately 3 weeks ago was told it has returned to peritneal deposits so here I go again. Just started carboplatin & liposomal doxorubicin will be for the next 6 months. Been told i am will also be taking olaparib there after.
Can't believe it came back so quickly thats more than a little worrying, but my doctors already had plans in place incase of just this. They have been amazing with me. They are there 24/7 if needed will do anything to male you feel better whatever that takes... still dosnt help the worry that it may never leave me...
Would love to hear anyones else experiences and survivor stories out there
Much love ❤

Hi. Sorry you recurred but you got almost a year. I had nine months then same plan as you. The carbo doxil/caelyx was tolerable . It shrank my tumor to 8 mm and the Olaparib shrank it to 2 mm as of my last scan. I’ve been on it for six months. Others have been on it for years! Are you BRCA positive? Best of luck to you!🌻🌻🌻
Hi I had my first recurrence after nearly 4.5 years, then my second just after a year and now am currently over 7 years in remission. A short remission doesn't necessarily mean that you can't have a longer remission next time. Still here just over 13 years from diagnosis. 3 trials under my belt. Carbo/Taxol, Carbo/Gem, Cisplatin/Gem, Cisplatin. Trialled Avastin, Cederanib and Olaparib (still on Olaparib tho the trial has ended but it's working so I now stay on it. Hope your next treatment goes well. Big Hug. Kathy xx
I was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian/peritoneal cancer in October 2017. The shock was immeasurable as I have always looked after and respected my body. I do not smoke or drink I have always been food conscious though I am not a saint and do have a penchant for a bit of chocolate!! Plus I worked very hard, a minimum of 70 hours a week beside looking after my husband our home and our numerous pets, life was always full on.
The initial shock very soon turned to extreme anger, how dare this rotten disease invade my body and interrupt my life. I had 3 sessions of carboplatin/paclitaxel and then complete debulking surgery and 3 further sessions of chemotherapy. I learned in the time the treatment was happening that I was BRCA2 positive and there was the reason for the cancer.
I have just restarted chemotherapy as it has returned for the third time, am I surprised, no. Will it come back, yes definitely. Will I give up...absolutely NOT. The treatment is tough but not as tough and bloody minded as me, I will take whatever medication my amazing consultant gives me, I will do whatever it takes, I have to live with this disease and so do my family and it is so hard seeing the worry in their faces and the concern in their voices but we are where we are.
My "Go To" comfort is to read the poem called "The Oak Tree", it relates to many scenarios not just physical illness. One thing I know for certain is that I am strong in mind and I refuse to allow this disease to rob me and my family of my life.
I love, love, love your attitude! You are an inspiration. If a person's strength and determination could cure a body of cancer, yours would do the job! Never lose that drive my Dear. God bless you. I am not familiar with "The Oak Tree" but will do so now.
I am so sorry your C has returned. It has done the same to me - 3 times. following my last chemo I am now on Nariparib, which is working well. 22 months and still OK. Hope your treatment work. The Maggies centre in Oxford has been very supportive to me.
