Hi everyone, I am on weekly taxol and avastin, but having a lot of pain in lower abdomen two days afterwards. I think it is diverticulitis. I am also getting a wisdom tooth flare up after every infusion. I've had to miss lots of weeks because of infections etc. Am worried they will stop the treatment as I am in such a lot of pain. I usually cope well with chemo but am not doing well this time. Has anyone any advice? I wonder if it's a sign I need to stop and hAve a look at other options.

Sorry to hear you are in so much pain . I know you are worried about them stopping your treatment but it is best if you discuss with your team . There may be other meds to help. Have you informed your CNS nurse ?
I had problems with a wisdom tooth flare up , so painful ( have had issues before chemo ) but think this was made much worst due to the avastin . Went to the dentist and she gave me some antibiotics which really helped and touch wood it settled down .
Hope your team are able to help with the pain so you are more comfortable whilst completing your treatment . Sending a big hug . Love and best wishes Kimx
I had lots of really bad bowel pain. XRay showed that it was material all backed up, even though I was very regular. Laxatives were prescribed and have to say even though I was very sceptical it has worked.
You need to speak to your consultant to resolve the problem.
You do need to speak to the experts; your consultant/CNS. I am doing taxol/platin and 5 cycles on. I have a history of constipation and therefore when I started chemo I fastidiously take softeners called Ducosate 2 twice a day and a power called Molative once daily. No toilet issues now.
