Started Taxol again on Thursday afternoon, everything went well , had the cold cap no problems at all.
Then at 2.30am Friday I started retching just bringing up a bit of bile ( I have had this problem many times in the past ). Then around 6.30 I was being sick quite badly, this continued until 10.30 by which time I was wondering how much a persons stomach can hold 😮. For the first time ever I rang my cns to tell her of this. Then rang Macmillan hotline who after quite a while managed to get me an appointment at the Marsden within a couple of hours.
They were lovely I had 4 bags of fluids with electrolytes ,X-ray and ct scan but nothing untoward showed up (blockage etc) and was kept in overnight.
Still feel crap, was sick this morning but only the once, my stomach still feels sore - but with all the throwing up I am not surprised . Gosh it was worse than all the hangovers/ binge drinking of my youth put together 🤢🤮.
I have managed to eat a slice of toast and a banana so far but just don’t have an appetite. I have always managed to eat through my chemos before, even getting the munchies with the steroids lol. I will try some smoothies/soups to see if I can get some goodness back in the old body 🙂.
I do have clinic again tomorrow so will see if they have any idea what caused it.
Onwards and upwards 🧗♀️

You poor thing, that sounds a very severe reaction to Taxol. I hope you manage to hold down small amounts before your clinic tomorrow. Good luck and I wish you well quickly. Zsu x
I totally understand. My belly has been in hell since starting the weekly Taxol with TAK228 trial.
I also have severe diarrhoea.
They reduced my dose of the Taxol and that helped a bit.
I think I have to ask them to reduce the TAK now.
Fortunately, I can stand to lose about 14 Pounds, a stone, but no more and I am dropping about a kilo per week.
I am on a white bread, rice pudding and mashed potatoes diet, but still taking Ondansetron and cyclzine all day with anti acids.
The clinics trial won’t let me have Omeprazole, which is a big problem for me. I swing from nausea to acid stomach to hungry to acid stomach and back again!
Also, I am too exhausted to walk further than the loo and back again.
Not a good quality of life right now.
I hate to quit the trial, so I hope we can work something out at the Marsden on Tuesday.
So sorry to hear of the side effects you are having, doesn’t it get you down a bit. I have have taxol twice before as first line then in a trial 2 years ago and sailed through with very few side effects.
I am hoping it is something to do with the severe constipation I had a few weeks ago, as the scan didn’t show any obstruction.
I normally have omeprazole daily but haven’t since having chemo so I am also getting the horrible acid tummy 😬. The cyclzine is helping with nausea and touchwood haven’t been sick since this morning.
I am also going to try a lower fibre diet to see if this will help.
Fingers crossed the Marsden can offer us both something to help with this side effects........
How are you getting i with the trial now? Are the side effects improving?
Sorry to hear about your hair loss, I totally empathise with you, when I last lost my hair my head felt so weird and sore 😕.
I had my 3rd weekly taxol on Thursday, apart from feeling quite queasy at one point it wasn’t as bad as the first one. I did start eating reasonably for a few days then my tummy started with the waves of pain again ... grr so annoying when I have had this drug before with no problems whatsoever
Hi Lucinda sorry to read about your reaction. I have been on weekly taxol for 3 months and although i have had no nausea i have lost my appetite and very fatigued. My CA125 has risen slightly over the past month but a CT scan shows no progression so they have decided to continue with Taxol. I think my taste buds have been shot as nothing appeals to me. The dietician has given me protein drinks but my weight is still dropping. It is a vicious circle. Fingers crossed for you that this is a one off. Good luck.
Sorry to hear you too are suffering with side effects from weekly Taxol😕.
The appetite loss and fatigue is so draining. I have made myself eat today I managed some crackers and mashed potato despite not really fancying anything. I do feel better for it even if it wasn’t that enjoyable- that lightheaded feeling has now gone.
We do need to get some energy to help with our healing. I do hope you can find something you can eat 😊xx
Hi. Thanks for your reply. I am glad you managed to eat. I also have eaten better today. I managed porridge this morning and beans on toast for lunch. I will be back to no appetite after Thursday's chemo. Take care. I hope things improve for you. X Angie
You poor thing. Nothing like repeated throwing up till you don't have anything left to throw up! Just wanted to say that if you think it could have to do with constipation, ask them what the x-ray showed....that is the test that can tell them if you are "backed up" and they may have been focused on something else when looking at it the first time. I hope they can resolve this and perhaps add more anti nauseants to your pre-meds. Wishing you luck! oxox
So sorry to hear this! Awful feeling. Hope you are getting better each day. I agree with you...get as much good food as possible into your body so it can fight. The very best to you.
