I have been suffering from what my doctor says is non ulcer dyspepsia or Functional dyspepsia
My main symptoms are globus sensation (feeling something stuck in the throat) and either a dull or sometimes very sharp stabbing like pain in the epigastric region (centre) . The doctor has prescribed Dexilant 30mg and Amitriptyline 10mg and antacid like Rennie and Gaviscon to take as needed.
The symptoms are very unpredictable and i have flare ups once a month which sometimes lasts for a week to 10 days to calm down
Whist PPI does work the process of kicking in is slow and takes 3 to 4 days to feel the difference. In the meantime i have to manage the pain with antacids which has very short lived effect
Does anyone suffer from similar symptoms?
What do people take to manage espigastric pain? Someone suggested Buscopan or Mebverine but i thought these were for lower abdominal pain

My consultant after a colonscope procedure also diagnosed me with the same.. Alongside Acid reflux disease and gallstones.. And IBS.. With side effects of constipation and lower bowel pain if I eat anything too fatty or with food that has too much wheat.. So I stick with a low fodmap diet.. And lactose free foods and gluten free food..
I had tryed PPI with awful side effects.. So so he just put me on with Gavisgon advance which helps with the pains I get under my right rib cage and I take Buscapan also for my IBS symptoms... Alongside a warm heat pad under my ribs if the pain gets too bad 🔥..
I also sip warm water if the pain is not too good. This all helps with my pain and eventually it all subsides...
I sympathise with your condition and hopefully you will find a way to manage your symptoms...
I was given o omeprazole becsuse of gerd and short bowel, also amitriptyline are awesome for pain, and for a soperific effect. You really need omeprazole gaviscon wont work. And it tastes foul. You can get reflux from sweet things biscuits etc. So cut back on sugar especially artificial sweeteners. Hope this helps failing that camp out at your gps surgery lol
