If you do your exercises you will be fine.xx

It was really a piece of cake. If would have had a choice I would have done the knee not long after diagnoses, or maybe both.😁Since I do not want to take the RA meds and all that goes with them..My knee is fine and healing was really fast. Good luck👍👍👍

Thank you! My RA is under control but my right knee is badly damaged so it’s a no-brainer really 😊

I had mine both replaced together, at the same time and the thing that made the biggest difference, was being diligent with the physio. You’ll be glad you had it done . Good luck

I’ve had both done. I was very diligent about exercises and the pain which had been haunting me for ages has gone. I hope yours goes well and you have time to recover gradually

I had a new knee in January and it works like a dream. No pain, long walks, hills, stairs etc no problemo. It's a bit of a bugger the first few weeks, but you'll get through it. Good luck.

Best thing ever! Had mine in March, scar almost invisible, still a bit stiff occasionally, but a good walk with the dogs help, if you are able try to strengthen the calf & thigh muscles before the op, realise this might not be possible now, but sure this helped my quick recovery!

You should be alright, think Positive, and everything will work out for the better. Good Luck and all the best.

That’s great news, I’m 47 told “both my knees are in a bad way and need knee replacements sooner rather than later but to young”. I’m going to take the matter further to get them done. You are lucky

Hi, I’m getting it done privately thru my husbands work health insurance. I’d have no chance with NHS as I’m still able to walk about! Good luck for your op x

Can I ask if anyone under 50 has had there knees replaced.

I'm 49, 50 in April, and currently waiting for my right knee (the worst) to be replaced. Was told being treated as urgent but the referral letter has been late getting to the orthopaedic surgeon, although already seen him in the Rheumatology Combined Clinic in November. He said at the time that I should get an appointment letter within 2 weeks and if not to chase, spoke to his secretary at the orthopaedic hospital just over 2 weeks after first appointment and she was going to chase but apparently they only got the referral last Tuesday after he'd been to the combined clinic again. I'm hoping that the urgent second appointment letter arrives sooner than later as knees getting worse. Right one is apparently 10 degrees out of alignment. Left one is unfortunately going the same way but not as bad yet.

My rheumatologist said that although a bit young for a replacement if I didn't have it done I'd not be able to walk in the not too distant future. Newme I'd definitely take it further, it shouldn't be restricted on age if the need is there.

Best wishes to you for the operation.

As others have mentioned, excersise was key for myself.

I was in hospital for one night (age 64) with my first new knee and two nights (age65) with my second.

I spent 3 days per week doing exercises in a local warm pool up to the day of the operation and I am convinced this helped tremendously.

I believe I worked so hard at this that I needed no physio following my second operation. In both cases recovery was surprisingly quick.

Hi, I have my op scheduled for 20th Jan so I’m feeling very wobbly about it at the moment. I won’t know until I’ve come round whether I’ve had a partial or full knee replacement. It’ll be hard work and I’m sure we’ll both wonder what we’ve done at times but fingers crossed, it’ll all be worth it. Good luck!
