I have had two knee operations. The first was to clean up the cartilage that was shredded and floating around. That was an Orthoscopic surgery. It was a lot more painful that I anticipated. However , my knee did finally heal and was fine for some time. Then a few years later I went to run after my two dogs who I thought were fighting. I tore the miniscus and needed to have surgery to have that repaired. They did another clean up job. I don't have much of a miniscus left. In November, I fell and did more damage. I tore a muscle in the back of my calf and tore what was left of the miniscus. I had cortisone injections and synvisc injections. Both did not help. My next hope is a knee replacement but I heard the recovery is pretty painful. There is one other possibility. Very few doctors do a meniscus replacement and one of my doctors happens to be one of those doctors. We are talking about that on my appointment this Tuesday. I just have constant pain and cannot even walk around the block without having pain in my knee. I hope this answers your questions.

It depends on what they find and do when they go in so every operation is individual and therefore the outcome greatly varies. I had a couple of arthroscopies in the mid 90's and they did give relief for a while. Farm

I had an arthroscopy about 10 years ago and the surgeon said it might help for a couple of years. Well 10 years later it's still fine! (Fingers crossed of course).

I know I do go on a bit about exercise, but after it was done I really made an effort to improve the muscles around the knee, and do still keep it up and I'm sure that has helped a lot. Before it was too painful to do much so it just got weaker and weaker, so I'm now trying to do the opposite and keep it strong.

yes they will put you out insert 2 holes in your knee and get a camera inside.

clean it out and then stitch or tape it up mri scans on knee can not be trusted mine said it was ok but it was not.

after they will have you up walking on it in about 2 hrs you go for a pee and if you manage that you are sent home.

note keep the bandage on your leg thats tight this is to stop and blood clots

the knee will not hurt u so much as they pack it with pain killers lasts abot 2 weeks

ON NO BLOODY ACCOUNT walk on any none flat surfaces ie at an angle THIS IS MOST IMPORTANT if you go for a walk walk on FLAT SURFACES for the next 6 weeks

ANDF DO EXERSISES EVERY DAY FOR YOUR QUADS

AND DO NOT DO NOT FORGET TO EXERSISE YOU VMO look on u tube for this THIS IS TO STOP MAL TRACKING OF YOUR PATTELA.

you should be already doing these exersises before op so you have stron mussle befor you go in for opp dont do it and recovery is longer.................

IF YOU WANT TO KNOW ANYTHING ELSE SUBMIT A REPLY TO ME.

Hi-I had knee replacement in January of this year and next week I am having my other knee done-can't wait.It was the best thing I ever did-the key to recovery is the exercises the physio gives you-yes there is a little discomfort but nothing like the pain of a AR/OA knee-it was gone from the moment I woke up-Thank You to the Surgeon and God-pain free in one leg-one to go the maybe I will finally get my life back after 5 years of begging and pleading-the last 2 years I have been house bound as it was just to painful to walk-have not been into a store, could not work-finally I am half way there-the only thing that bothered me is that I wish they could have done both at once-but I am so excited for next week and trust me I am no hero!!! When I woke up no more pain-didn't even need no pain pills but when you start exercising you should take them about 30-60 minutes before as you will have some discomfort but not from you new knee-just the healing process-like I said I am no hero and if I can get through the rough spot for about the next 2-3 weeks after surgery you got it made.Good Luck and I Hope All Goes Well~~~
