Morning all. I have not been on ere for a while. Hope you are all reseanobliy well.

Just wanted your thoughts.

Due back to work this week Dr tomorrow. I have been off sick since the end of January.  Work for the nhs as a receptionist now, busy hospital main entrance.

Had my knee injected and been on oral steroids since ye start of march. My back was really bad, could not get out of bed or straighten up without a struggle due to stiffness and pain. Or sit in a chair for more than a hour. Thoughts where Si inflammation which I havd been treated for 20 plus years. Anyway Rheum reg said just OA in L4 L5 facet joints and degenerative discs. Go to pain clinic for injection into spinal joints. I was by then feeling ill with flu like symptoms and no appetite.  I felt so desperate, because I had a depot injection in Dec which settled things down.

Went to G.p he started me on oral preds. Within 5 days I could get out of bed and straighten up, plus felt so much better in myself. I have continued to improve and now paying to have physio.

Since reducing steroids I am more stiff in a morning and a couple of days the ill feeling has returned. Trying to get more active and walk unaided. Big problem is I get so tired. By 3 pm I could fall asleep sitting up. Movement wise though if I look back to the previous week I know things are improving.

Knee now since injected is much better no burning swelling reduced and less pain and stiffness on walking.

Just had a call from work to see if I am coming back tomorrow,  they need to sort out covering the desk. I said I was still in bed but ok to talk when asked. She said jokingly lazy thing get out and get the dogs walked. I know thr are not that uncaring but just do not understand.

My hours are 22.5 supposedly and I work evenings 4-8 3 days. I know I will be tired. Other days are 8-2 and 8-12. They have also said I cannot park anymore.

Also she asked if phasing in had been mentioned. My new manager just did a sickness review and sfd we will be pleased to see you back, just accepted that I was just back in and carry on as normal.

So there you have my concerns, I am sure many of you will have been in a similar situation,  just wondered how you managed things.

Thanks Moomie

Sorry about the spelling errors my tablet keeps shutting down when I try to go back and correct grrr

Yes mum! I'll see how it goes, if not tonight tomorrow. But I will say tell it like it is work wise, don't want you setting yourself back again. I know it's a fine line but you're not skiving. Settling down to watch Marcella, I'll be surprised if I make it to the end! x
