Hi,
I haven't posted on here in 8 months, since my last failed attempt at quitting. But I'm trying Again my quit date this time was the 14th of January, so step by step day by day...
Go for it!
Awesome! Congratulations on your quit! Please stay busy, and try your best to keep your mind off of cigarettes. You’re doing great!
Welcome to our community Tryingtobeok - have you stopped smoking, if so, how are you getting on?
Hi RoisinO1 yes i gave Up on monday, and I'm doing good, have bad cravings from time to time and blimming vivid dreams/nightmares but good so far, staying strong
Are you going cold turkey or using an NRT aid to help Anna_maggs96 ? Sleep disruption is a common nicotine withdrawal, the vivid dreams/nightmares more so a side effect of champix.
Below pinned post is worth a read if not already done so:
I quit oct 21st 2018 but still struggling with some anxiety and depression. Any advice helps.
Ah well done Tryingtobeok on over 50 days smoke free now, congrats!
Yeah the anxiety and depression can be a common nicotine withdrawal - there are a few things to help with this, short term until things settle down with your mind and body rewiring, repairing and recovering - avoid alcohol and caffeine as can big time trigger these off. Sugary foods too unfortunately Drink loads and loads of water, plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables. Bit of a walk every day to clear the head. Also, take time out for yourself....
A visit to your local health food shop may be worthwhile too for herbal and vitamin supplements to help too. But if you feel as though it is getting worse or overwhelming, head to your doctor immediately.
Maybe create an introductory post to share your story and struggles to more help, advice and suggestions from our members here
Thank you Roisin I will do that!

Good to hear from you Anna_maggs96 - its great you are not giving up on stopping, learn from previous attempts, read up as much as you can here and elsewhere and post especially if struggling, we are here to help
Hi Anna, I quit last year for 6-7 months with Champix. And went to bali on Holiday inn december and started smoking again. It was dumb. I will have to quit again very soon. It’s easy to relapse since it was the first time I ever quit. All the best with ur quit.
Hi Anna! That’s fantastic and can totally resonate! I gave up to, 5 months ago, then stopped and started and have now stopped again on the 11 January, you’ve got this!!! Enjoy your non smoking life! Sending you loads of positive energy for your quit!
Ah Frostytime - good to hear from you but sorry to read of your relapse, great to have you back on the horse, learn from your previous attempts and stay close to us
I feel I could smoke every day and I've been quit nearly 8 years, the truth is you just don't give in to the want
You can do this!!!!!!!!!! I'm on day 48. Keep up with me!
Welcome BillPNH - congratulations on 48 days smoke free! Well done! Are you going cold turkey or using some form of NRT?
Well done 👍🏼
Hi Roisin. I’m doing great thanks. I remember you came to Italy. Hope you had a fab time 😀
Hey Sparkle11 - we did indeed go to Italy in August last year, to our favourite place, Rome
It was our fourth time there and still as special as the first time we went there on honeymoon. The only downside, like you mentioned was that the heat was unbearable, one of the days, it was 35 degrees It was in the middle of that heatwave all of Europe was going through, including us in Ireland
