Hello all, been lurking for a while but just joined. I’m on day 10 of Champix and second day into no smoking. Been out on date night tonight and not smoked so feeling really proud of myself but it’s been very hard. Hope this gets a bit easier. 😊😊

Huge welcome to our community Kell48 and congratulations on Day 2, well done (especially on not caving on a special social occasion :) )

We have several members here who have successfully stopped by using champix with some over their 1 and 2 year milestones. Below is a link to some helpful posts worth a read if not already done so:

We look forward to reading your progress :)

Hi kell48,

It definitely does get easier!! It can be really tough breaking the habits, first time doing anything smoke free is rough. I actually gave up alcohol because I know I am strong enough yet, I would cave with one glass of wine so well done you!!

Good news is every date night from here on gets easier! 😀

Agreed ! Pass a ‘trigger’ once or twice and it hardly bothers you again...ever! Thats a wonderful part.

Kell ..Welcome and well done ..... I always enjoy a positive Champix quitter post...

You did very well to stop smoking after 8 days on Champix...I only stopped on day 12 and the normal is usually 14...

Always remember that it is not the Champix that made you stop but it is you and your strong will...Champix surely helps but you will have all the emotional feelings on your journey...

Enjoy the ride and yes it really gets better..!!

Thank you for the replies. I think I’ve got off quite lightly with side effects compared to some people. I have about ten minutes of nausea after first tablet the evening tablet seems to be making me feel a bit agitated: anxious. I feel like I’ve had about twenty cups of coffee for an hour or so then I’m flakes out by nine 🤣🤣 but it’s three days of no ciggies now so I’m happy to put up with it. Xx

Hi Roisin, day four has gone really well. The hardest part of the day seems to be around five ish. I’ve been taking my second tablet around 4:30 so I’m not sure if this is a bit early. How are you getting on?

I’m now on day 8 of no ciggies and feeling really proud of myself although I am still having random cravings and my moods seem to be either up in the clouds or down in the dumps... feel a little bit lost sometimes but it’s all worth it. I must say, I know it seems quite shallow but one of my biggest fears is weight gain as I have struggled with my weight for longer than I care to think about 😫😫😫

Thanks for the support folks, this site has really helped and motivated me xxx

Hey Kell48 - these feelings you are experiencing are perfectly normal at this stage of your journey, perhaps a trip to your local health food shop for herbal supplements will help with this - try not to worry about weight gain, EVERYONE who stops smoking puts on some weight, if it needs to addressed, it can be done later on when you are stronger in journey. Enjoy your new found taste and smell and enjoyment of food again :P
