Help!! Is smoking causing my hair to fall out?

hi I have been smoking for nearly a year now and I realised along time ago that my hair started going thinner which is strange because I have very thick afro-English hair but when I got out of the bath the other day and ran my fingers through my hair loads of hair fell out and into my fingers. I have also recently lost my mum so is the hair loss stress or smoking?

Hey clara_69 sorry to read of the passing of your Mam.

I have never heard of smoking causing hair to thin or fall out. Perhaps, visit your doctor to as I don't think we would be able to advise on this type of complaint as we just offer support and advice to members who have stopped smoking.

thank you for your feedback and recommendation and i am quitting smoking it has been two days now and only one cig I'm so excited to see where this goes and what changes it will make

Good for you clara_69 - I am over 2 and a half years stopped now and the changes are endless - all for the better off course, the most significant change for me is I now appreciate and enjoy life, nature, food, working since I stopped, so you are right to be VERY excited with all the good things to come from stopping
