Happy Monday! I for the first time in 17 years, 1 month, and 2 days have gone 1 week without smoking. I kept hearing from peers that day 8 (today) is the worst. I honestly feel fine! Yesterday I even took my patch off at 1pm and did not replace it until 7 am this morning. My toughest days were day 4 and 5. Since I am using the patch I don't believe the physical symptoms are going to be an issue and even if they are I wouldn't know if they are from quitting smoking or being pregnant. Thank you for your support...it has helped so much!
On a side note...I see most of you are from the other side of the world. I love the language such as being on Holiday instead of vacation like we call it here in the United States or saying cheers as you close a message. It really brings a smile to my face

Well done! It's great that day 8 is going so well but be prepared for cravings coming out of nowhere. Sorry, I don't mean to be a party pooper but I know from experience they can sneak up on you and if you're prepared for it happening it's easier to deal with.
That said, enjoy the moment and celebrate your success. You're doing BLOODY well! (There's another saying from this side of the pond :-))
Hahaha! Thank you so much! I am prepared. They have definitely been present as I have been very irritable but again, I'm pregnant so who knows where that is coming from! My biggest issue is that I am bored. I used to look forward to getting off work because I could go smoke or even the weekend because I could smoke whenever I wanted. I slept a lot this weekend and tried to stay busy. I know this will pass also.
Yeah, see what you mean - irritability could be coming from the quitting or the hormones...or both! It sounds like you're doing all the right things anyway so so keep it up, and keep as busy as possible - taking into account present condition of course
I know what you mean; there's a big gap to fill when you stop. There are so many things that you associate with smoking but they do gradually become easier to deal with, and eventually disappear. I used to love working from home because I could smoke whenever I wanted to. That was always a struggle for me at the start.
Ya are doing grand Alynnk0821 (another Irish saying!!) and congrats on 1 week smoke free! Hope you lined up a nice treat for yourself, you deserve it.
As you are using the patches, you are still getting your nicotine fix, whenever you reduce down to 0% nicotine, it takes 3 days for it to leave your system, then the mental battle will begin, as Nozmo rightly advised, be on your guard at all times....
Thank you! My reward is a NICE air freshener for my car. Since I have been rolling my own cigarettes I'm only saving between $20 and $30 a month. I know this is still great but honestly the patch is more expensive! I can still do small rewards so I am Thanks again!
Congrats Alynnk. Everyone's quit is different and some have the worst cravings early and some later. When a craving hits be prepared to do something else walk, read, crossword, paint, cook, or anything you enjoy. It helps.
You are doing extremely wel Alyn...your positive attack on this quit thing makes it easy for yourself and you will be able to get through the darker days...It is truly a mind thing... Ja in my part of the world we are on leave....!!!
Thank you so much! In America when you are on leave it is for medical reasons such as having a baby! So weird how the world speaks differently! Thanks again!
