Just wanted to take a moment and say hello to all of you! I've been lurking and reading thru the posts here for a few weeks now. After 33 years of smoking, at least 25 cigs a day, I decided it was time to quit, using NRT patches. I put my first 21 mg patch on, on Feb 11, 2018, and by Feb 19th I had stopped smoking. On Feb 26th, I started cutting that patch in half, using 10.5 mg daily, with little issues. On March 3rd,I invested in some 7 mg patches and while the first day was 'uncomfortable' I've done well on them, and think I'll be cutting those in half this weekend. I do have on hand, some nicotine gum, both 2 mg and 4 mg, for intense cravings, should I need them. Has anyone else tapered quickly with good results? I'm blessed to have a strong support system both at home, and at work, and I really think that's the key to this, as well as being mentally strong. This isn't my first attempt, probably my 5th attempt in 33 years, but this time FEELS different... I'm so tired of being a slave to the smoking...arranging my life (and my families) around when I could have a cigarette, I'm tired of smelling like an ashtray, and I'm tired of not being able to breath freely. I already can breath so much better....and I feel FREE! Thank you all for sharing your experiences on here, you've all helped me work thru cravings of some sort the last few weeks. I may not say much on here, but, I'll still be lurking LOL

How are you getting on now Dishbrat ?
I'm doing well, thank you for asking! I ended up cutting my 7 mg patch in half, 5 days ago...1st day my anxiety was pretty high, but smooth sailing at this point. I'm thinking of going patch free, starting this Saturday. Hope all is well with you! Thank you again for checking in on me!
Hi and welcome dishbrat,
If lurking is helping you keep it up! Congrats on the three weeks smoke free!! 😀
I am only a little ahead of you at day 41 but I quit using champix. Delighted to hear you have a great support system, I am very lucky in that regard too and it makes a big difference.
This time probably feels different because it is your last 😁 you really sound positive and happy! There are so many positives to quitting, I already have so much more energy than before. I smoked around 20 a day for too many years.
Best of luck and feel free to post whenever you feel like it, it's a great place to rant!!
Stay strong 💪 x
3 weeks is excellent Dishbrat .And I love to hear you have great support . I also love to feel healthy and just like you say I got tired of smelling like an ashtray .That is so true ..What a great achievement not having to hide to smoke and to mask the smell which was my case chewing gum spraying stuff and masking the horrible smell all day long every day ..Ughhhh what a great relieve ..good for you !!!! Keep it up this time for ever 👍😉
Keep pushing thru - it's soo worth it
