Day 5...

I was worried about day 4 and it was awful. Today is even worse. I am bipolar so since I'm pregnant, I am not able to take my medication. So I am off my meds, pregnant, and not smoking. I'm a hot mess. I was so horrible to my 4 year old son this morning that I am sitting in my office at work crying while I type this. I am telling myself that I can have two weeks. If I still feel like this in two weeks I am giving up. I am literally thinking "go one more minute before you go buy a pack and maybe it will pass". I was always scared to quit smoking because I knew how awful it would be, but this is way worse than I could have ever imagined. Is anyone else currently on Day 5 also?

Hey Alynnk0821 - what you are going through is perfectly normal, great mindset to take it minute by minute, I promise they do get easier. I was pulling my hair out on Day 8 and done up my first post here, that was over 2 years ago and I am here to tell the tale!!

From the active members here at the moment, they are all a little ahead of you but if you type in 'Day 5' in the search tool, you will get all the posts of Day 5. I would suggest going to your health food shop to get some herbal supplements to help with the irritability, anxiety etc that you are experiencing, explain your circumstances and that you have stopped smoking, they should be able to give you something.

Above all, stay close to us and post anytime :)

Hello.

I am not on Day 5 but I have done Day 5 and more than once!

Do not give in. This can and will pass. Until it does, don't be too hard on yourself, you have a lot to contend with at the moment. Carry on as you are, minute by minute, hour by hour. In 2 weeks you will feel differently.

You have got this far, don't let it be for nothing. You can do this. Keep posting, especially if it all gets too much. ☺

Don’t start again . I did and it’s the pits ! Just wish I could rewind the clock . Stopped for 4 months then had a backslide . In past two years I have successfully kicked some heavy duty prescription medication - ex is a doctor but I swallowed the stuff - but this - to quit again - is my biggest hurdle . How to find the strength . I am exhausted and so lack lustre .

Good to hear from you Lilacinbloom but sorry to read you have had a slip. Take time out to reflect on why you smoked and learn from it, then get the mindset back again you had for 4 months. It took me 3 attempts to stop and over 2 years now, you can and will find the strength to begin again, knowledge is key to success and getting support especially if struggling which is where this community plays its part, when you start Day 1 again, stay very close to us, we will help you :)
