Oh I know that terrifying feeling.. I would always plan to quit and then have a panic attack because I was running low on smokes, even on the day I planned to stop lol and then I wouldn't quit and I'd say ah next week il stop..

This time, I didn't plan! I smoked the last smoke and just said ok il pop on a patch and see how many days I can go without.

I think the trick for me was not to think about it.. not to plan, just to go with it and if I felt a craving then I'd say out loud "it's a craving, it will pass"

I wonder if my family and friends thought I had lost it with all the talking to myself lol 😂

You can do this.. work out why you want to do it ( my niece cried cos she thought I'd die soon) and just take it second by second if you have to.. the time will fly by and you will be better off! Good luck 😉

Thank you that is really great advice! I have smoked the last one I had and stuck a patch on and so far so good! I think it is just taking that leap and I know I can do it but there has never been a right time to just not to buy more. I know a lot of my cigarettes are habit so I just need to change the habit. But I have been thinking about this for a long time and today is the day where I take the leap of faith! Your advice has really helped :)

Good luck with your quit, keep yourself busy walking, crosswords, baking, painting anything to keep your mind of cigarettes. Take it one day at a time, or one hour at a time if you have too. This is a fab site, if your struggling just post an SOS on here and someone will give you encouragement 😊😊😊

Hello and welcome Gillyo66

For me, the idea of giving up and the thought of not smoking ever again was worse than actually doing it. I suppose it is fear of the unknown. All you need to keep in mind is that it can be done and you have it within you to quit. I read somewhere that there are now more people who have quit smoking than there are smokers.

Be brave. Take the plunge. It may not be as bad as you envisage.

Good luck. Post as often as you need to. ☺☺

Well here we are 24 hours in and I am still alive! Its all ok so far :) :) The thought of doing it was worse than the reality. I am horrified how a cigarette could change what I did, when I did it, everything revolved around my smoke times. I always made time for them!
