Nicorette Quickmist, bad side effects

Hi, I quite smoking over 1 year ago and I've been on Nicorette Quickmist ever since. Now, I think it is doing harm. My stomach and colon have been badly upset for around 2 months now, and there is no reason, so I've come to think Nicorette Quickmist is the culprit. The list of potential side effects is quite long, and my symptoms are on that list. It's quite scary. I never had any of those issues as a smoker. Has anyone here been able to go off Nicorette Quickmist?

I know I need to quit, but I do get very bad cravings and bad physical sensations when I dont get the "puff".

Welcome aneczka , unfortunately I don't think there is anyone on here that has been on the quickmist but did see a post from a few months ago about it and the very serious side affects from it.

I would suggest going to your doctor asap with your concerns, maybe try and use a different aid for your quit..

Hello.

I think RoisinO1 is right. Perhaps a visit to the doctor is in order, if nothing else to put your mind at rest. Also it does contain nicotine so if you have been using it for a year, it is possible that you will experience cravings if you stop using it.

Try not to worry, get yourself an appointment and get some information from the doctor. Oh, and the worst thing you can do is 'Google' it - you'll end up with a load of misinformation that will frighten the life out of you! 😊

Of course the first thing you do is googling 😁 but in this case, I just read the product leaflet, something i didn't really bother doing for one year. Another thing: this spray actually feels burning in my mouth. If that stuff gets into my stomach and intestines, which it naturally does, then no wonder it is causing issues!

Hi, you are so right, googling is the worst thing one can do. I have actually stopped this now. I was going to stop smoking on the first of January. I have gone back to cigarettes but I feel soooooo rubbish. My body is rejecting it. But then the craving gets soooo overwhelming and there I go again!. I am once again, smoking my last cigarette in a moment. I HAVE to be able to do this for my health's sake. I think I should try and get as active as possible on here to get as much morale support as possible.

Hey Bunnylou , good to hear from you again, as this post is inactive and over a year old, maybe create a new post, introducing yourself and sharing your story so that it will be seen by our members and you get the morale support you need - we are here to help in whatever we can.....

Perhaps you could switch to another form of NRT to see what happens and if the symptoms subside? Book an appointment though, to be on the safe side.

I will see if I can go without. Just threw the 2 sprays I had in the garbage bin. So tomorrow will be a crazy day, I can tell already.

Hi Aneczka,

I know this post is a year old. Wondered how you got on with the doctor?

I've been hooked on.the spray for ages now but it's not agreeing with me anymore. I'm scared of getting a tumour or stroke as my head goes funny. Now I can't sleep!

I will simply have to go cold turkey 😣

Welcome to our community Bunnylou - there has been no activity from Aneczka since she posted this a year ago unfortunately. We have had members now and again posting with the same complaint as yourself and how addicted they are to the spray (and inhalers).

Perhaps create a new introductory post here and share your story, you may get some replies from active members that may read it and be able to help. I think going cold turkey would be the best option for you if you can. I stopped smoking over 2 years cold turkey and never looked back - I never thought I would last a day but with the right focus, determination and attitude you can achieve it :)

in reply to Bunnylou

this is my first day of cold turkey from quickmist, havn't found it as difficult as I thought, but because you already got rid of the smell ,and the cough, you don't have those things to look forward, so when you find yourself reaching for the spray I have found it very hard. I have been on it since September 2017 and can't afford it myself, it was given to me by cessation nurse at gp's. but only for 3 months. It is cheaper to smoke rollies, but I like the clean. I responded to you Bunnylou as I wondered how it went. It says you posted 23 days ago

Huge welcome to our community Hidden , as advised Bunnylou, this post is inactive and over a year old, perhaps create a new post introducing yourself and sharing your story so it will be seen by our members here and you get the advice, support and encouragement, how is Day 4(?) going now?

hey Roisin,

How wonderful you replied and well done on quitting. I have done it before myself. I think it was about 4-5 years ago. I quit smoking for 10 years and it was the hardest thing I have ever done. Now I'm back in the same position and I KNOW I have no choice but to go cold turkey. As I am a bit older now, I am slightly paranoid something bad will happen as I will not be able to bounce back like I used to. And as the 1st of January is approaching my intention is to have all the nicotine out of my body and completely detox. I know I'm setting myself a high challenge but it's got to be done. Trouble is, this is my little secret. Nobody knows about this because I am too ashamed.

Maybe I'll start a new thread with my little story xx

Not at all Bunnylou - wishing you all the best and strength for your new 'smoke free' year - please do share your story, we all have/will be at the same stage as yourself and here to help in whatever way we can...

Still not smoking or using Nicorette quick mist, but relented and went onto vapouriser, it was better than the alternative of smoking. Seems bunnylou we have to much in common started smoking again after 7 years in 2009 , been trying to stop again ever since.

That is great Hidden - congratulations and well done - we have several members here that used vaping as an aid and are now free from smoking and vaping and over 1 and 2 year milestones :O

Give yourself more credit, as advised before, create a new post to get your much deserved support and recognition from our other members (especially a new members). You are not alone on this journey :)

PS Your milestone badge is on its way!

Just updated my profile, where I mention, I wasn't using the vapouriser correctly, so I wasn't getting the full benefit from it. Now it's sorted and I am well chuffed. Thank you the kind man in e=cig shop. I also mentioned in the update that I am in fact 70, don't have any illnesses as yet, not even smoking related one's, Fingers crossed I have stopped in time. Have to say whilst at 70, it's a bit like shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted. The rising prices, although seem unfair will help those on here in there 30,40 &50 somethings stop before it becomes a necessity, obviously at my age I have bid farewell to friends, having contracted COPD and other lung disorders. Keep up the good work everyone.
