Ok a little confession to make, I'm still smoke free almost 4 months, but I'm nit your normal female lol, I hate shopping, I'm such a tomboy & I watch football, I watch a lot of football. Anyway being Scottish there's only one team to support, & on Sunday they play one of their biggest games in 4 years, (it's been a stressful 4 years) the hype up here already is mental & it is going to take all my resolve to not cave in with the stress of it

How spurring for me at least to hear your four months done and dusted,  brilliant.

With all the hurdles you have passed, I will hope Sunday gets you the results you wish (football wise) with hopefully the knowledge to at least realise if you have a huge crave, deap  breathing, and boiled sweets, may just get you through.

Doing fantastic, will keep my fingers crossed all goes well

May I say, soooo many people will be following you, just wishing they could be where you are.

Amazing

Jess...Well done on 4 months and I would like to say you are almost over the hill. I am a rugby fan and with the Super 16 (18) in full swing and my Bulls team not getting going I have eaten bags and bags of sugary sweets on a Saturday afternoon...But smoke I will never again....... even if the Bulls end up at the bottom of the log !!!

Hiya Jess, understand your predicament fully. Since I quit I have stayed away from all Newcastle-Sunderland derbies because the stress is so great that I don't think I could do it without smoking. I have gone to the cinema or some secluded spot until the game, and the temptation, is over. This is the coward's way of course.

It doesn't get much bigger than a Celtic-Rangers semi final, especially under the circumstances, so this is a must-watch match for you. I think the only option you have is to beast it out. Hold your resolve for only two hours and you have it cracked. After that you will have either euphoria or misery to deal with but it won't be as bad as the stress of the match itself.

If only I could practice what I preach!

Are both semis at Hampden? I'm in Edinburgh for the weekend so I'm just gauging what the pubs will be like for Hibs-Dundee Utd game on Saturday.

Yes Nozmo both at Hampden, in case you haven't guessed I'm a Rangers supporter, & although we're not the favourites with everything that's happened, there is a sense of expectation, I will be a nightmare on Sunday, the adrenaline will be pumping, I will be pacing about lol, my husband & kids hate football they just don't get why I get like this every game

Thanks Jess. I guess they will be showing the hibs game in most of the bars so I won't have to watch the Sunderland-Norwich relegation showdown. It isn't cowardice this time as my wife booked the trip. 😀

I would like to see you win on Sunday because you must have taken so much cr@p over the last few years. Best of luck!

Wow Jess, almost 4 months smoke free!   That is great, well done!

Its a tricky one, the pub and smoking especially for such a big game for you.

At 4 months in my quit (almost 7 months now), I had a family birthday at the end of January and it was the first time I was surrounded by smokers in my quit, I found it the hardest hurdle to overcome and very difficult for a few reasons, found it difficult to breath even though we were sitting outside, eyes itchy and sore, smelling the smoke and thinking it was disgusting, then as the drink kept flowing, liking the smell of smoke, mind switching to "one won't do any harm", but I didn't give in but it was very tough.

My advice is limit your drink during the game, if it gets too much just walk away from the situation, try not to be around smokers, win or loose, YOU WILL BE THE WINNER, whatever the outcome if you don't smoke.
