Hey guys , just found out about the forum and thought I'd write a post to say hello. Really proud to be smoke free for 9 days but it's getting harder. I'm going out for a drink this weekend and I know I'm Gonna be very tempted. Does anyone have any tips for me please ?
Day 9 smoke free: Hey guys , just found out... - No Smoking Day
Day 9 smoke free
Welcome Jessie and well done on 9 days, that is great!
You are over the physical withdrawal and now the mental battle has begun. In my opinion, the biggest hurdle to overcome is out socializing especially if surrounded by smokers. I am almost 6 months smoke free and had a family occasion there at the end of January, it was very tough, but with focus and determination got through it.
Hello Jessie
You are doing great on day 9.
Your well on your way.
Drinking at weekend.cant say anything.but fight the temptation.if your mates go outside for a smoke.just think how cold.maybe in rain.
All sat there puffing away there life's
Remember your on a new road in life which is
To be a non smoker.be richer in health.wealth and will lead to happy.
Good luck.if you do fall.dust yourself down and start again
Keep kicking
Take care
Just wanted to pop my head in , amazing, wow,how fantastic , into your secnd week, I so hope a little celebration is in order.
Well done you
Well done on reaching nine days Jessie. If you can get over the weekend you'll be into the stage where it starts to get easier.
Tips:
Tell your mates that you have quit and ask them not to offer you any
Go out with the attitude that, "I'm going to be tempted but I'm not going to cave in" rather than "I'm going to be tempted and I might cave in"
Don't hang around outside with the smokers or you could be tempted to bum one from somebody
Go easy on the drink as your whole outlook will change and "just one" will seem like a reasonable option (I speak from experience 🙂)
Something else to bear in mind...you might think that ciggie you're craving will be deliciously lovely but it won't be. After nine days without one it will taste horrible, and will probably go straight to your head and make you feel nauseous. The quit breaker is never as good as you think it's going to be...I speak from lots of experience on that one.
Apart from that, enjoy your night! Once you get the first one over with they become less daunting.
I am on day 5 of non smoking and know how you feel . I did have a glass or two of wine last night and managed without a cig... I will be going out next weekend so will be 14 days stopped by that time. I think a huge well done for going 9 days and hopefully the weather will be so bad that you won't want to go out !
Also on a personal note every time I've been out I've missed half the conversation as I've been stood outside !! I'm normally far too nosy for that , lol x
Think of all the money you're saving and buy yourself something new to go out in xx
Good luck , let us know how you do
