One thing you should do it delay it. During that time, you might even start to feel a bit better! :)

I stopped smoking over 3 years ago using an ecig. Obviously I still have a 'dependency' on nicotine but it is now divorced from 99% of the harm in cigarettes, namely the smoke. I use the ecig much less now and have more than halved the nicotine level.

If you've already managed 3 months nic free then I'd suggest you try an ecig with a low nic level, say 4mg, which is very low. This may save you from going back to smoking, which would be far far worse then an ecig and put you right back to square one. Alternatively try gum, it didn't work well for me, but might for you.

I don't think anything containing nicotine is the answer for someone who's been nicotine-free for 3 months. He doesn't really crave nicotine, but smoking.

Jess9, ask yourself do you really want to smoke or you're just having a difficult time in your life? It's easy to confuse those feelings as we used to resort to smoking when we felt depressed (and sad, happy, relaxed, tensed, angry etc!).

Will smoking solve any of the problems you're having experiencing right now? I know it sounds like a cliche, but smoking would do is add another problem to your daily life. You've been smoke-free for 3 months and it does get easier with time. Give it more time!

Yes yes and yes.

Hey Jess, well done, 3 months is an amazing achievement and took alot of hard work - thats almost 100 days since you had a smoke, you can do another 100 days.

Kacmins gave you great advice, you will regret it so much if you light up again. I would suggest relaxation techniques of maybe walking, listening to music and maybe a visit to a health shop for herbal vitamins that can help.

I will be 6 months smoke free in 2 weeks time and promise it does get easier the further we go along, hang in there, post as often as you need to.

Have a read of Tales from the quit. The terrible 3's. It will help I promise.

talesfromthequit.com/the-te...

Don't smoke. You'll only regret it. And please, for the love of, well everything, don't have a nicotine replacement anything. You are well and truly over your physical addiction now. What you are battling is the mental addiction and you are strong enough to do it.

One minute, one hour, one day at a time!!

Actually if you do have a look at the tales read 'choose your pain' too. Gives a whole new perspective on things.

Hi Jess9,

Do you constantly feel like this or does it last for a couple of days and then go away for a while? I still have days when I'm really irritable and snappy (after 2 months) but I'm on the e-cigs so it can't be purely nicotine (or lack of) that causes it.

I folded after three months last Christmas so I would urge you not to do it. The first few cigarettes taste bl**dy awful, they make you feel terrible, they're not what you imagine them to be like....and when you do quit again after lapsing for a few days it's MUCH harder.

Well I haven't caved in, thanks everyone for your support, feel a lot better today, think I was just tired and wanted to vent last night, I know I would be stupid to cave in, my bank balance looks amazing, done loads to house and going to New York in November, it's been so cold & wet where I live, think I'm suffering from lack of Sun too lol, but don't worry not craving at all today

Thats the spirit Jess and glad to hear today is a better day for you, we tend to blame everything on quitting - non smokers tend to blame everything on the weather!

So for a little respite you would risk your life. Smoking stopped my heart 5 times before I was able to be saved. Its not worth it really believe me.

You have done so well 3 months is a great achievement. Use the power of that achievement to drive you forward not wallow in self pity.

in reply to Andyman

Respect to that, all said! I'm also paying a very high price for all the years smoking, I wish I stopped earlier.... Or never started.
