Hi Jill, for us ( new quitters) it's easy to look at cigs and blame them for everything going on in our lives both good and bad. We gain wieght when we quit so we blame the cigs, we are irritated we blame the cigs, we're coughing we blame the cigs, we're not coughing we blame the cigs and so on. My point is just that not everything that happens over the next while is because of the withdrawel. If your not sleeping well, try the most common sleep aids first, don't watch tv or do electronic stuff before bed, sleep in a totally dark room, have the room at a comfortable temp or sleep with socks if it's cool. Don't read in bed. Try to keep the bed for sleeping only as your body will begin to recognize that when your in bed you sleep. Maybe even wind down with some warm milk or sleepy time tea a half hour or so before turning in. Just some ideas that may help. Good luck.
Well said Canwes, I agree, and I think learning not to attach everything to smoking/not smoking helps to get over 'missing' fags actually.
Jillibean - if you're aggravated because you're wanting a smoke, remind yourself how far you've come, how proud you are of yourself, how strong you've been Celebrate it, and laugh in the face of the cravings, because they're not YOUR cravings, they belong to the nicotine monster, the addict. That's not you. You don't want to smoke, you want to be smokefree and you're doing it and the monster is scared.
But I agree with canwes and karri - have a delve and see if it's something else bothering you, too. Good luck!
