Recognise a few names from last year, some, that like me are back at the starting line & some that have reached The Penthouse & where ever we are in the quit we want the same thing...to stop fags running our lives!
For all those on their first quit journey please don't be despondent when you see that some of us have caved & had to start again, we will say we had our reasons but they are excuses that we use to justify our one moment of weakness ha!
My excuse was grief, but earlier in my quit i had got through a stressful night at the hosp with my daughter as her birthing partner, i didn't cave in, despite the fact i was worried sick, & after hours of excruciating labour she had an emergency C Section. It only takes that one cigarette, so we have to resist the temptation, the disappointment you feel is immense & you can never just have one!
Best of luck to everyone, i feel better already on day 2, & from experience i can assure you that your health, both physically & psychologically improves with each day that passes

Yeah it's amazing what you can get through without 'needing' to smoke. Thanks for the warning as well by the way. I am feeling pretty confident at the moment but I am aware that one moment of madness with a good 'excuse' is always there. As you said you can't just have one.
Thanks Carol & Sue, this forum helps so much doesn't it. I should have come on here to talk through my cave crave but the smoking devil got the better of me.
I'm out to lunch with my smoking friend today  but although she smokes like a chimney she does support & encourage me & every time she lights up i just tell myself that that's another one i've resisted

Onwards & upwards X
I have yet to sit with smokers while they smoke if you know what I mean. Been round them while they've gone outside to smoke whilst I've stayed in the warm but not sat with them. I've got to be honest I really appreciate the smoking ban now.
My test will come in a few weeks time when I go to see my brother and his partner who both smoke and still smoke in their house.
That made me laugh..... how stupid were we that we realised it smelt really bad so we wouldn't subject our furnishings to it but it was ok for us to smell.
We'll be there for the whole weekend (he lives away) so I'm starting my visualisation of not smoking there already.
Sue, try not to worry too much about your time away, i think i would do what i will be doing with my friend today, observe just how many they get through, which will be how many you resist! it will actually make you feel even better about your quit...If you can get through that you can survive anything
We can do it this time Tracey, last time was a practise run haha.

Hi Trudy Welcome back!
I'm really glad that you're here in fighting spirit once more, you sound full of positivity and ready to beat the nicodemon into the ground!!
Like you say, newbies should not be put off by minor bumps in the road. If anything it should just remind us all (newbies and long time quitters) to be on our guard and remember that one cigarette will never be enough.
Good luck and I look forward to seeing more posts from you xxx
Welcome back, I remember you from last year, wondered what happened to you, great to see you giving it another go! Scary how just one slip puts you right back in the grip of addiction and before you know it another year has gone by:eek:
Thank you all for the warm welcome back, so nice to see familiar names & faces, really does help when i see how far everyone has come...really pleased for you all & proud of your achievements.
Yes Max, that's me on cc, i'm so determined to get to the penthouse this time & with the help of this forum there is no reason why i shouldn't succeed
Sue...I survived the lunch date with my smoking friend, even went back to hers for the afternoon for a brew & she smokes in her house! I think she had about 7/8 fags in the time i was with her & every time she lit up she told me how proud she was of me & envious of my willpower...I'm proud of me too haha
Despite the fact i had a large roast & dessert at lunchtime i could eat a sieved up mule!
onwards & upwards...& probably outwards in my case x

Speak soon ladies X
That's a good idea. I always used to hate watching a clean ashtray fill up so very quickly when a few of us were sat round smoking. Wondering how many were mine.
I will count, that will really help. Glad to see you got on ok with your mate smoking as well.
It does help Sue, i just kept saying that's another one i haven't had, good feeling
Hi Sherri, wondered where you were, had a little look about on here for you. It's a shame we caved in to the crave but we can do this, no looking back!
