Hello folks, Im back, hopefully for good this time!!

Hi folks, well ive deceived to try again. last time i tried i lasted about four months with the help of dolly's mixtures. Gary AKA Captain was a real help. unfortunately i fell. he went on to make the one year mile stone. I think im ready to give it another go. Recently ive been cutting down and have tried electric e-cigs. they are great for helping to cut down. but i still think they are part of the overall smoking experience which i think needs to be broken. i have been having about five cigarettes a day and not really vaping until evenings.

So here goes Tuesday 4th is the first day of not having anything. i know its going to be tough i know that. so guys i may need your help. Here's to talking to you all and hopefully making a few new friends along the way. fingers crossed people. Si

  • So great to see you come back and give it another try Si. :D

You're still part of Dolly's Mixtures, that will never change.

I don't post often now but look in from time to time, now I'll be looking in to give you a hand if you need it. :)

You can do it, you've been there before so you know what to expect and what to avoid.

Chuffed you are back! :D

  • Aww cheers pal, listen i dont expect you to log on like before, you helped me all them moons ago, i learnt a lot then, like you say i know whats to come, and to be honest im not looking forward to it but no pain no gain. this was the first place i came to when i decided i was going to try again.

  • Yeh, you know you'll have some uncomfortable moments and you can always go out and kick those lamposts again but it really, really does get so much better.

Just at the point when you think you can't take any more is the very time to bop past the craves that one last time.

I can honestly and truthfully say that the craves are totally gone. It took a while but they are. You can make it, you know you can

  • i know Gary, im ready for the lamp post kicking times. with each try you learn, this is the first time since i fell last time. hopefully things wont be as bad, but hey keep on the yellow quit road eh.

  • Too true, keep on keeping on, down the yellow quit road :D

  • i couldnt agree more Kat. i cant believe ive logged on and my friends have logged on to offer me help. such a wonderful place. i cant wait to start tmw and be part of this forum again.

  • Thanks Kat, I do look in but rarely post now, the forum has moved on as these types of forums do.

Si, good luck for tomorrow, I'm off to bed now but will be rooting for you all the way to the Penthouse.

I've had a cold one in the tap waiting for you for over a year now, it's time you came to claim it :D

  • Good luck for tomorrow Si :)

Loving that last paragraph Captain, very reassuring indeed :) I can understand why you wouldn't be posting now all the time, not smoking is normal for you, this is fantastic, thanks for dropping by gives relative newbies like me a real boost to see old faces back sating it's all worth it :)

Si, all the best for tomorrow, you'll be grand :)

  • cheers Donna, agreed Captain is a true top fellow, we had some really good conversations last time around, i only wish id have stayed with it. i broke due to extreme pressure having to take my little dog to the vets, at the time we had only had her a 18 months, I knew i was going to smoke that day from the moment i woke up, she was only five. that broke my heart. Now im stronger and im ready to try again. Im not postponing going to bed honest. Ha Ha Ha.

  • Thanks tractorgirl.

Haha the thought of the first day is murder isn't it, but it won't be anywhere near as bad a you think ;) ah sorry to hear about your dog... Extreme stress is definitely one where u think stuff it.... Like u said u knew that day you were going to smoke the thought was there and it just wouldn't go.....We've all done it, I know I have numerous times... This time though you know the pitfalls, it's gonna work for you, plus you won't have to feel guilty on no smoking day on 12th march with the excessive amount quit adverts they will put on.... You will already be over a week in :)

In the words of Keith Lemon... Alt best.... :D

  • Hi Si

I'm in the same boat as you mate, just decided at the weekend after being charged over nine pounds for a packet of cigs that thats enough and I'm not

really enjoying it any more. Yesterday was my first day after smoking upto

20 a day for nearly twenty years, you can do it, keep yourself busy as much as

possible I find it helps a lot. Good luck :)

  • Welcome Si :)

I think this is going to be your time :D and I will be cheering you on your way. Lots of other new quitters have joined the forum so you'll have heaps of peer support. You know more or less what to expect and having been through the practise run you're now ready for the real thing. :)

I shall look forward to hearing how your first day goes. All the best to you!

  • Please to meet you, Si :)

You've had your practice run...now best of luck with your permanent quit, sir!

    Steve

  • Well here i am on the first day of my quit, and what can i say its been alright. i have limited my usage of my electric cig, only using it first thing this morning, just after lunch and just now after tea. Ive been busy at work so found it pretty ok.

  • You're off to a good start Si :). Keep up the good work.

Can't stop long Si but wanted to pop in to say well done on your first day back :)

Genuinely rooting for you to make it this time, one day at a time, all the way to the Penthouse

  • cheers guys thanks for the support, a few newbies and a few i remember from the past, to be honest i think there is a lot of truth in the fact with each quit you do actually learn from them, each time you do actually get strong and are able to resist easier, well day one is nearly over. no lamp post kicking tendencies yet Captain. watch this space though.
