Morning all So i have made it to day 5 and I am so very proud of myself! There have been some real dark dark moments where I almost lost all my willpower but i did soldier on and i really do feel like i can conquer the world today lol!
Anyway I have been using them e-cigs up till last night, i was smoking one every day and a half which was starting to work out more expensive than smoking. i thought i'd be saving money not spending more! One of the main reasons for me to stop was to save money not to spend more!
Anyway I found honeyrose cigarettes, they are £2.50 for a pack of 20, all herbal no nicotine. Does anyone have any experience with using these while trying to quit? i'm hoping to save them for them dark moments but wonder if they are just as bad as smoking the real thing, because your giving into that habbit of lighting up? i dont want to get addicted to them and that habbit in the long run. ANy advice appreciated. Cheers to us

I have never heard of honey rose cigarettes but to be honest if you actually light them then you are literally smoking? If that's the case I would say they may be a good alternative to smoking normal cigarettes but for me personally if I had to light and smoke the herbal cigarette I would find it extremely difficult to give up with them, they will burn down you get the sensation of putting it out etc, it really is just an alternative.
Sorry it's just my opinion obviously and you have done great to get to day 5, well done xx

I would say this.
Years ago now I bought a pack of herbal ones (no not the illegal type :p) to give them a go (my problem has been the act of smoking more than the nicotine) and think i got through about 2 before slinging them 'cos they're rancid.
But apart from that, you're still inhaling burning stuff which isn't good for you, and it's still the hand to mouth, inhale smoke, watch it blow away kind of thing. You can't get physically addicted to them, but you can get metally hooked if you see what I mean?
If you use them when it's that or a fag then they're not too bad I guess though. It has to be your call but I'd be dodgy about them
Thanks Donna, that's what i need some good honest criticism! I tend to kid myself sometimes so just wanted others opinions xx
No worries, I just looked them up on Amazon as I didn't even know thy exist, there are mixed reviews on them, I agree with Debbie, definitely try some other NRT first like patches gums or lozenges or even a nicotine inhaler you can get them from all chemists that has the action of inhaling but no smoke comes out, good luck whatever you decide xxx

Thanks Gemma your right, I think its not necessarily the cigarettes its all the actions that go with it. Like with the e-cig i NEEDED to see that smoke coming out my mouth . Thought I'd buy them and have them as a back up for when things get realllly bad or to carry in my handbag for work etc, you know them times that make you want to turn back to cigarettes and you end up going to buy a packet for ''just one''. Will battle on now no e-cigs and cold turkey xx

That's exactly where I went wrong last time - had an e-cig and in the end used it far too much, and it got me just as hooked as on the real thing.
Maybe some NRT gum would be good for the really dodgy moments?
My sister used them they smell like drugs when you light them be warned. The taste is disgusting. Why don't you try some other form of Nrt and try to come away from the hand to mouth habit aswell xxx
Thanks Debbie yeah its def the hand to mouth thing i need to break. I have the lozenges - really dislike them. I have the spray, makes me hiccup like crazy. I've tried patches, don't really help and mess up my sleep. The e-g is the only thing that kept me going to reach day 5 so now I think I just have to try going it alone, cold turkey style! xx

Hey Jo
Good luck with the CT but don't feel you have to battle on, it's really really hard and not for everyone, certainly wasn't for me, I nearly had a breakdown in the end lol for me despite trying patches several times this time it seems to be working, if you can do cold turkey brilliant I admire you, but please don't struggle unnecessarily, perhaps give it a week cold turkey and if u find it really difficult turn to NRT, wishing you the best of luck xxx

Good luck, I'm sure you can do it!! x
haha Gemma im the same, im sure i puff on that more than i smoke real cigarettes lol. Well i cant afford fags and definitely no more e-fags! Yeah think i will try the gum haven't tried it yet or maybe the new strips i see on telly but if they taste anything like the lozenges i will be pretty upsetxx

Thanks Donna, think i'll go see the no smoking nurse next week. I havent so far but will talk and look at other avenues if it gets too much. Thanks xx

Those lozenges are vile!! They give me a sore throat too, not good
They do some gums that don't taste evil now - they used to be horrible - so that should help or like you say the strips, anything to take the edge off when you feel really dodgy with it
The Freshfruit one and Icy Freshmint actually taste like chewing gum, not old socks
Hey, well done on getting to day 5, Jojo. It's a great achievement
Yep...take your own advice there. There are plenty of things you can try!
Best wishes,
Steve
Hi jojo!
Congratulations on doing so well in your quit so far - you're doing brilliantly!
I tried honey rose about 15 years ago - can't believe you can still get them and until I saw your post I'd forgotten about it - but now it's all come back to me !! The smell!!! My god, my friends said I smelt like a bonfire! We were actually in a club one night and I heard some people I didn't know nearby asking each other if they could smell burning - the horror when I realised it was me!!!!!!! Disgusting, honestly!!!
But, I do think that whatever gets you off the fags is a good thing but probably best to see the no smoking advisor to see about some 'proper' NRT.
Hi Jo. Good luck with the cold turkey but if it gets too tough don't punish yourself. I'm using e cigs which I know aren't ideal but at least I'm not inhaling all those deadly poisons. As for cost , if you have a rechargeable e cig it works out at about 5 British pounds as opposed to 50 British pounds for real ciggies so it's a huge saving. I realise about the hand to mouth thing but its the lesser of two evils . The important thing is to stop smoking the weed that is killing you, the rest can come in due time. Much love and good wishes.. Jonno
We'll done for getting to day 5! I too used e cigs to help me quit but mine cost less than £5 a week! I used my e cig for just over 5 months and it really helped me a lot!
Just thought I would chip in to agree that Honeyrose herbal fags are vile. It's like smoking grass cuttings. Honestly :).
I think your plan to see NHS nurse is a good one. I know I keep singing their praises but the local service I used is first-rate. And if nothing else, you'll get any NRT you decide to use free of charge.
