Day 8 - eek

Going out this evening and I know in advance that it is going to be a bit of a challenge

Alcohol will be consumed - feel free to disapprove but I have to be honest and say this may be excessive :eek:

Friends who smoke will be present.

Sitting here now, and knowing myself I can see that the combination is not a good one

My mind is already lying to me.....

It doesn't count if you don't buy your own

If you only smoke once a month, that doesn't count

You've got this thing beat now - one night and then back on the quit - simples

If your family don't see you smoking, it doesn't count

If you just have a drag of other peoples, it doesn't count

So let me state quite clearly here

I WILL NOT BE SMOKING THIS EVENING - I AM AN EX SMOKER WHO WILL SOON BE THE OWNER OF A FABULOUS TELESCOPE, AND WHO SMELLS GREAT.

On a more practical note I intend to be sitting as far from the door as possible, boxed in by my non smoking friends :D

At the moment I am limited by only having binoculars

So a bit of constellation spotting, bit of planet spotting, bit of ISS spotting, meteor showers...

What I want is to see that Mars is red, to see the rings of Saturn and the red spot of Jupiter, the Orion nebula, Betelgeuse - geeky I know :cool:

And by the way here I am, Day 9, small headache after having actually enjoyed (rather than endured) a no smoking evening out.

There is the added bonus of getting up this morning, admittedly a little worse for wear, but NOT coughing my guts up and stinking like an overflowing ashtray - that has to be a win

Definitely a win I'd say! That first night out with smoking friends is always a massive deal so good for you getting through it unscathed I can see that telescope on the horizon.... I am looking through my binoculars well done x

I dunno why, but I always look for the Pleides when I'm star-gazing.

I never get to see the full wonder of the night sky...too much light pollution...but have always been fascinated with the universe.

And hey! Well done for winning the 'pub challenge'

Absolutely!

The problem with bins is however powerful they are, you can never keep them steady enough. Or I can't anyway
