Yes it gets easier and I'm getting there!!

Another one of the "yes it will get easier it really will" threads - and I'm chuffed with myself :D

Had to take my dad up to sort out some bits about his new car - yay day off boo stressy drive!!

It's about an hour and 15mins drive, so back when I smoked I'd be gasping for a fag at the end of the journey and be a bit "itchy bitchy" (thanks Magicbunny) and my dad is *not* a calm passenger.

Anyway, today it was a bit stressy getting up there, parking even worse (old smelly smoker me would have thrown a tantrum and stomped off to smoke ) first thing dad sees is his new car YAY but it's round by the smoking area BOO and it's in use DOUBLE BOO. So I gritted my teeth and went over, expecting craves, pangs and all the rest. But nope, nothing apart from a small tug and then thinking "EEEWWWW that flipping stinks" - and trying to keep out of the way of her stinky smoke as much as possible.

Now I understand why people in the street and in laybys used to give me evils when I stopped for one :/

Didn't even take my e-cig along 'cos I'd have felt a complete prat taking it to the smoking area or puffing it on the forecourt - but I did have gum which was fine and stopped me getting itchy.

Talking of e-cigs, I'm (as Sarah said) rather attatched to it and want to change that so I've bought some lower strength patches and am going to buy blanks to go in it so I can finish the job and go nicotine free witout too much pain. Have been conscious of the fact that while i use it less than I used to smoke it's a bit cheaty to use it like I am when I *need* to be kicking the nicotine - so I will.

Won't do a full course of them 'cos I don't need to, it's just to make sure I don't relapse.

And finally it's 18weeks tonight since my last fag - which is flipping good :D

YAYYYYYY!!

Well done sweetie! You're doing so well and I'm so happy for you! :D

You're nailing this now and setting a great example for me and other newbies on the forum. You always have some advice to offer and kind words to help with the hardest parts, and I've barely seen you flinch since I met you :) Though, you've shown me the proof of that happening in your early days. Lol.

I hope you're really chuffed with yourself hun *high fives* xxx

Lol, I'm sure it would have been *eek* we'd end up winding each other right up back then but no probs at all since I quit.

*Adds "being a better daughter" to her list of good things*

And yes, it usually was a 2 fag job after that, then rush through another one before getting into the car to go home - flipping pathetic really wasn't it?

Ooh, and thanks, I hope reading things like this helps. Know lots of people say it but if I can quit anyone can!! Nobody I know thought I'd manage to but WOOHOO :D

Thanks hun :)

I'm really pleased with myself 'cos being a bit stressed and seeing someone smoke could have been a trigger but it wasnt!!

You *will* get to where I am now, and further 'cos I know you're very determined - and you can see how lots of quitters like me have gone from teary, scared and (for me) flipping flakey to determined solid non-smokers!!

Ooh and another plus - no headache from trying to "load up" on nicotine YAY

And now sorting out insurance for the car - flipping annoying and that kind of thing used to make me dive out for a fag but nope, just got a bit annoyed with the stupid thing like any other non-smoker, but didn't feel the need to fill my lungs with toxic smoke to "cope".

I'm so pleased with myself :D
