Pammie you are an inspiration to us - a lot of people in your situation would have used smoking as a crutch but you have faced the situation head on and I am sure your treatment will be much more succesfull now - well done to you and best of luck xx
Hi Pammie, I am a 11 year breast cancer survivor. Hang in there, you can do this!!! I also quit when I found out I had cancer but after the treatments and everything I started back on the nasty cancer sticks. Don't make that mistake, please!!
I am now 70 days into my new quit and loving it!! Hang in there and if you need another breast cancer survivor to talk to I would be proud to lend my ear!! I will pray for your continued success at not smoking and the best outcome possible with the cancer!!! God bless and keep you.....ppat
hi pammie, and everyone on this thread. I had a later stage breast cancer and really thought I was going to die, soon. I struggled so much with quitting, especially with people around me (hubby included) still smoking. and them trying to tell me to carry on normally because otherwise I would live by the cancer and not the all clear. Well, it took me a while, and I have had reconstruction surgery - and I have a few issues, and panic attacks that I am trying to control, but I am finally - two months into quitting.
Don't knock hypnosis - I play it on the kindle with earbuds in as I sleep, it really helps, and no one around me realised I had quit- I had to tell them ! I had so many other issues going on at the time, problems with my kids and serious financial issues having had to give up work. So --- when you feel negative, down and think it isn't worth it, or its too damn hard, remind yourself that this is your choice, and you can do it now and feel better later, or not do it now and feel worse and go through it in the future. I used smoking as a crutch for far too long, and my life is so bad right now that I am having to leave my home, and I have no where to go. Still not smoking though - so take my hand and let me show you - no matter what else - you CAN GIVE UP SMOKING ! you take control and I promise you'll feel so much better (even with the odd craving!) xx best of luck all and especially pammie xx
