Random thoughts on day 18/19

Cannot remember which day I am on as my quit thingy is on the laptop not the desktop! Well, seems better now. Have not thought of a ciggie since waking up until a little after lunch, so that has to be good, and it was more of a random "Oh, I have not thought of cigs today" than a crave.

Right now, here in glorious Cleveland, OH it is minus 10 degrees C, 45mph winds and snowing - if ever I needed a deterrent I think this is it! (I did not smoke inside as OH hated it, and we have 5 kids in the house).

So, here are my observations so far:

1. day 12-15 were hellish for me, I was very emotional, cried over ridiculous things (I spilled a coffee and you would think the world had ended!), I also would snap at nothing and felt frustrated. I am very proud of myself for making it through those days as was not sure I could.

2. My asthma seems to be playing tricks this last few days. I was wondering if my lungs are only now beginning to clear themselves out? Last night I had that horrible feeling of mucous trapped in my throat that I could not clear and kept wheezing. Off to buy some mucinex when I pick up the kids (although am nervous already about driving - my car is Rear wheel drive and the brakes kept locking up this morning so think I need to get it in the shop ASAP as hit the curb a couple of times!).

3. My skin seems to be breaking out. This has happened every quit, I keep telling myself it is all the toxins leaving, but could be completely wrong! I wonder if it could also be excess oil production? If anyone has any ideas please let me know, as this will get me down in a heartbeat (especially as in nursing school we use each other as guinea pigs and my back looks terrible :( ).

4. I can smell EVERYTHING!!!! I am showering twice a day because I am convinced I smell - OH is completely confused as he says it is the first time since we met that I DO NOT smell! Guess I have to get used to smelling food etc.

Does anyone have any recommendations for products to clean the smell from the car? It drives me nuts - that stale smoke smell. It is fading, I have leather seats, floor carpeting, if that helps with the suggestions? Really want the smell gone.

Well that is enough rambling from me, hope everyone is well. My five year old told me last night "mummy, I can hug you and hug you and hug you now cos you are not stinky anymore". Melted my heart, but followed up with "mummy, why do you have a shaky bottom, you should have told Santa to bring you a new bottom" charming!!!

car cleaning

Hi , in answer to your " ]Does anyone have any recommendations for products to clean the smell from the car? It drives me nuts - that stale smoke smell. It is fading, I have leather seats, floor carpeting, if that helps with the suggestions? Really want the smell gone"

I]i have just spent the afternoon defuming my car, i am only on my 4th day but realise how badly my car stinks!

i can recomend "baby wipes" not sure if there there called the same thing in the US as in england but basically there used for cleaning up babies rear ends !..as you have kids i imagine you know what i mean .

i got through half a packet but they smell better than stale smoke and shift almost anything.

good luck kmh

thank kmh - I am originally from the UK, moved stateside in 2006, back in UK 2010, then stateside end of 2010 (wondering if I am insane as I look at the weather outside and contemplate running for the UK!).

Am off to the store in a bit, as we have already had 4 inches of snow and forecast upto 10 inches tonight, so want to stock up first! Will grab some wipes!
