The theory is SIMPLE.

Do not but any cigarettes!!

Do not open packet .

Do not put cigarette it in mouth.

Do not light up. !!

Simple really!!!!

Yeah!!!! As if!!!

My only way to have dealt with this ( and I tried in past and only got to day 2 and a half ever!!) is to take it hour by hour. DON'T look to tommorrow. Just the next hour - or half hour!! Bite size pieces. And reward yourself. With whatever you want.

I kept telling myself that I was in control. Not the demons.

Change your routine where you can. Alter route home. Alter time you have coffee breaks etc. Have baths/showers to wash away the old you!! Wash all clothes -they will stink once your sense of smell returns. Clean out car too!!! Do anything that tricks the demons.

Replacement items are great -trial and error to find one that suits you

I went Cold Turkey - but have Niquitin Mini's for those moments when I REALLY REALY could have a ciggy. I mean REALLY -Climbing up the wall REALLY!!! I nearly stopped a stranger for one in desperation once!!! I didn't of course.

Weekends I stay in bed till late now -No need to get up to light ciggy as soon as I wake up. It's bliss.

I have been on shopping trip with money saved. Treated myself to new summer outfits.. YES PLURAL!!! More than one!!!!

My car smells fresher. As do my clothes/ my home and hopefully my breath!!!

One day done!! Well done you.

Keep focused. DO NOT give in to the demons in your head. You are in control. Do whatever it takes to get through THAT moment when you really feel like caving in. It wil hit you hard. But be prepared.

We all have been there. This is where your test of character comes in. Just continue at this stage to only get through the next hour -or half hour.

It worked for me - but we are all different.

Just tell yourself you CAN DO it!!

One day behind you. :) And I bet you never thought you'de do that -but you did!!!!

I am feeling very tired and restless, I think this is bcoz of not smoking....

What do you think???

Nicotine is a stimulant. So it follows that if you stop the stimulant you will feel more tired I guess.

Not nececarily more tired - just less artificially awake!!

I sleep loads more now. Mainly on the sofa in front of telly. Lost count of how many TV programmes I intended to watch - and then wake up to see the final credits rolling!! Not a bad thing - my body must need the sleep -but ciggies and too much coffee deprived me of normal sleep patterns I suppose.

Smokers always tend to look a bit sallow and pale -maybe lack of sleep -or lack of oxygen getting into blood stream. Or both.

Keep at it though. And catch up on your sleep. Give your body a chance to rid itself of the chemicals. I feel much more alert in the mornings now.

And as for feeling restless -it's cos you need to find something to do to replace the physical action of smoking. I did jig-saws initially. Bought some from a charity shop just to occupy my hands and take mind off of constant inital thoughts of ciggies. Others take up knitting or housework!!! Do whatever you are comortable with. Build an Airfix model or go on the comuter playing games. Anything that distracts is good.

No -one ever said it was easy!! Well done though so far. Tommorrow is another day with another challenge.
