Is this the beginning of my first day?

Well I'm only on day 6 of Champix and my quit day was supposed to be around day 12 /13. Smoked too many this morning, then had one at 1 p.m. Then I got mad! Why am I letting this poisonous thing get the better of me??

So not planning to, but I put away the cigs and the ashtray and it's now been 7 hours and 45 minutes. Part of me keeps thinking well this is not really my quit day so I could have one, but I'm trying to hold on!!!

If I could make it till bedtime, then tomorrow is another day :)

Hey looks like you've discovered how to start a thread. Now didn't that take your mind off smoking? :D

You are doing extremly well, don't force it just 1 hour at a time. Every time you get to another hour congratulate yourself and when you go to bed if you are still smoke free tell yourself WELL DONE! now let's try and get through tomorrow 1 hour at a time.

I'm proud of you.

Good work, keep it up! Getting through the 1st day is tough, it's so easy to tell yourself 'Ohh, one more cigarette then i'll quit' or 'i'll finish this pack off and just start tomorrow'. You've made the first big step to a happier, healthier and wealthier life :)

Thank you Chezwfc! Just getting ready to go to bed and am missing that last cigarette. Taking deep slow breaths and chewing on sugar free halls :-)

Good night and here's hoping tomorrow finds us well and strong to continue on this fight!!

Hey Valian,

that's how my day 1 started! I went to bed expecting to smoke the next day and woke up not wanting one at all.

I haven't had a smoke since :) (day 11 smokefree :D)

Hi Talien, Great job 11 days!! Well today is day 12, wow!! Must say I really don't want one. However I still think of it so I have to force myself. Have you stuck to the Champix? I was thinking of not bothering with them anymore as I think it was more of a cold turkey reaction rather than the pills. I've only been on them for 6 days, but then again..

Anyhow we shall see how it goes. It was 1 p.m yesterday when I got mad and said NO MORE!! and it's now 9 a.m. so here's hoping!! Going to Canada to spend time with family on May 10th, it would be so great to say I don't smoke anymore :-)

valian...hi there and congrats for deciding to quit. i am on champix too. today is my 28th day since starting them.(day 3 of total quit) may i be totally honest and tell you that sometimes it takes a little time to be fully effective. recent weeks i have felt very much like you. wanted to, tried to. but felt like champix were not doing a vast amount to help. well i was wrong. totally! i used to sneak a smoke or 2 and say it didnt matter cos it was still so much better than 20 or so.

Now i know better. i also know that the champix do make a difference too. give them a little longer if you can. several folk have told me they didnt make a difference till 3wks plus. what have you got to loose by staying on them? and if it works for you like it has for me (and others) then you stand to gain a hell of a lot-smoke free lungs!

good luck!

Thanks Debbie, Yes I'll stick with them, don't want to risk it :-) Today is day 7 of the pills, still haven't started the blue ones. Here's hoping for a day 2! Congrats on your day 3 of non smoking!! Must say a little nervous about side effects, but I hope that within one month they are over with???

Have a great day, keep it up!!

you may get a few side effects when you up the dose. I can say for a fact that i no longer have any side effects. As long as I dont take my morning pill too early. ie empty tummy, then i get queasy. i dont like breakfast you see.

good luck for today, would be great if you manage but dont beat yourself up if not. one day at a time etc!

still going!

Okay, we'll it's 7;30 p.m. and still holding on. So 30 1/2 hours wow!! Around 3;30 had some very strong urges for about an hour! The longest time. Luckily we were visiting the kids and I didn't have any cigs with me, or I might have grabbed one, if only for one puff. Urges alot stronger today, but I've held on so far. How long it will last I do not know, whether it's a few days, weeks, months or years, who knows :-)

Debbie, how did you do today? What type of symptoms are you referring too? Is that the funny tummy and a little dizziness? If it's those already have them but not too bad.

Hey guys I could be wrong but some of the symtoms you are getting may not all be down to champix. It could be the normal symtoms you get when you start to deprive your body of nicotine.

Did you have these symtoms when you started Champix and you were still smoking?

:)

I would strongly advise against going off the champix. Don't mess with something if its working! :P

Glad you're still going :D Kepp it up, I had a really easy first week and epicly hard second week, be prepared for some hard times ahead but it does get easy, and the benefits im already feeling and seeing far outweigh anything else! :)

Thanks Talien. I'm still hanging in there getting to day 3. Had some strong urges but most of the time I'm amazed it's not as bad as I thought. Then again it's early days isn't it..

I am staying on the champix and unless they react badly with me, I will stay on them for the full 12 weeks. I have been smoking for so many years I'd be fooling myself that I can give up that easily without help.

So here's to another lovely smoke free day!!:)
