Hi all this is my first day of stopping smoking. I don't smoke unless I drink and then I smoke about 20 at once so I am doing both-going tee total and not smoking!!No longer want to do either for mainly health but also financial reasons. FED UP with paying to poison myself!!! God and my poor parents gave me my poor body I need to respect it and look after it, especially when some poor people don't have the chance to regain their health. So here oes to a new start. xx:D

Welcome Binny,

Have a look around the forum and you'll find lots of solid advice either already posted or provided by members. If, in these next few days, you find yourself wishing to succumb, don't. Divert yourself into doing something else and you'll find that the crave will go quite quickly. Others have and will continue to say that you should read, read, read and educate yourself as to what is happening as you go through this process of cleaning the poisonous nicotine out of your system.

If all else fails get back on-line and rant

Welcome Binny :)

You'll find lots of support & advice here. Hope your day 1 goes really well, and maybe you can treat yourself to something other than a drink later- maybe a lovely fruit smoothie, a nice coffee out, or some Earl Grey? Might make you feel like you've still got something nice whilst stopping the drink :)

Good luck :)

Snap

Hi Binny,

Just some moral support as I quite smoking (and drinking) last November. The simple reason being that although I desperately wanted to quit smoking i knew that every time I drank my determination would crumble! I probably was not the most sensible drinker either but thats for another forum!

Anyway all I can say is that after four months I feel absolutely fantastic - and you will too! Best of luck with your mission.

All the best.

Thanks!

Hey LindaSpicer,

Thanks for the welcome - just thought I would come on and lend some moral support to those just starting out. I tried to quit CT back in 2005 - and managed about 4 months... just was not ready! This time is a whole different kettle of fish - my mother always use to say 'you will only quit when you really want to'... sounds simple but its so true!

I'm so excited for all these peeps quitting - its such fantastic news!
