I've been keeping an eye on this forum since I joined a cessation group three weeks ago. The group has been great but this forum is exactly what I've needed for those moments of doubt throughout the day. Thanks for that!
I'm on my second week of medication - Champix - and it's going well. Surprisingly well in fact........or at least it was until last night. For some inexplicable reason I started to feel really anxious and since then all I've wanted to do is have a smoke......the dreaded 'just one' thoughts. I'm determined I won't succomb to it but, geezo, it's tough!
The strange thing is I was out at a 30th on Saturday and then dinner and drinks on Sunday without too much thought given to having one.
Still, I'm determined to see off these crazy thoughts, and I will. Perhaps it's just going to be tougher than the first few days suggested!
The whyquit website has been a tremendous resource for anyone who hasn't seen it!
Best wishes to you all.
Michael.

Congratulations on your decision to quit - how long have you been smoke free? I like you found the first few days a breeze with the champix then BAM - had to start putting some work in to deal with the craves. It's a bit of a roller coaster ride but so worth it
Good luck and keep letting us know how you're doing.
I stopped on Friday night so I'm into Day 4. In fact, my new Quit Meter says 3D 12hr 9m 10s....11s......12s..... Great little gadget.
Yeah, Pookie, "BAM" is the word and I aint no Batman.......hence the struggle.
Regrading Champix - I read on another post that the side effects can get worse after you quit. Has anyone else experienced that or do you think it's just a combo of the drug and the stopping? I have been a bit spaced out since I started taking it but it's hard to differentiate between the two.
Pookie, did you continue with Champix for 12 weeks?

yep I love my quit meter - keeps me motivated
I think in the end I did 11 weeks on champix - I was one of the lucky one's who didn't really suffer any side effects when I was taking it - felt very low for a couple of weeks when I stopped though. There is a social group on here the Champix Crew - useful to join and read through. I remember feeling very tired at the beginning and being able to sleep and sleep but lots of the little niggly things like mood swings, sore throat etc I think you suffer with regardless of how you quit. Most of the time I was bouncing between being hyper and being generally fed up stick with it as you're doing the best thing in the world.
