Third time around for quitting and here is day 4

Hi everyone .. tis day 4 of my campaign to make this the last time i quit!!! Going cold turkey this time, after using patches , and Champix tablets on previous attempts.

However this time I feel as if I have an inner guardian that fends off any pangs of cravings. Although i seem to have a need to stand near people that are smoking???? not to have one but just for the smell.... weird in its own way!!!!

I will probably need support from lovely people in the same boat as the people in my house have never smoked before.

Me I come from a family of devoted smokers .. who invested well in their habit and still do. However I really would like to go through my 40's and 50's without the need of a nebuliser and have more energy.

Have smoked for 26 years and this is going to be the final quit for me.

Reasons:

Quality of life

Money

Health

Because i am sick of being slave to a drug called nicotine!

Thanks everyone and well done on everyone being on here and getting as far as the first day! Now we're here lets stay stopped :) Big Love x

hi nosmokinggirl

welcome to the forum, well done on getting to day 4, it sounds like you have got it all going in the right direction , not sure of the standing next to smokers bit :D have to be careful you are not passive smoking , my advise would be also to drink plenty, get it all flushed out of you, read and educate yourself on your quit , lots of people on here have great signatures with brilliant information about stopping smoking. Also there is this place where you can come and share all your experiences chat amongst fellow quitters and draw from them ...good luck NSG hope this quit is the last one you will ever need to do ....infact i know it will be :)

Hi, Day 4 and going strong by the sounds of it. You've got the determination and the positive thinking going on so you are in a very good place.

Same advice i'm afraid, read lots and lots and really keep in mind the reasons for you not wanting to smoke, because to quit you really need to want to, especially at those times when that nicodemon is giving you loads of reasons why just one won't hurt!

Keep calm, positive and keep smiling, treat yourself every now and again for a job well done, and be rest assured, it does get easier and easier, just keep focussed on what you're doing cos it is a big thing and not to be taken lightly. Every day focus on the positives of not smoking, not just from that day, but past days, write them down if you want to, just as long as you can think of them at times when you might feel a bit vulnerable.

Keep at it and keep in touch, it's a great thing you are doing for yourself!

Lorraine :)

Thanks both :)

Just taking a day at a time and am far more focused this time.

I am doing it for me rather than other people this time also so that makes a big difference.

I tend to fair better if I dont read to much material and just tell myself it is a dirty smelly habit and I no longer need to be a part of it.

I shall keep my eye on this site for good ideas and tips ...

Plenty of orange juice and banana's and plenty of cycling! That should do it!
