Day one again & again :(

It's been 11 months now , trying to quit smoking ! Each time I quit for a few days or weeks then the cycle goes on, I find myself parked beside the mini market and buy cigarettes :( But I feel this time is different, coz I smoked a lot last two weeks and I hate it so much :( I'm planning to join the Gym this week , this might help , I guess :o

Any Ideas ?

Thanks

Hi Nofnof:)

Oh this sounds familiar it was just how I carried on for years

Well done deciding to stop smoking and don't worry lots of us have tried numerous times before education is the key to a successful quit though

Below is my standard welcome and advice post which I try and give all new members

Welcome to the forum and well done on the decision to quit possibly one of the most important you will ever make and you will be losing nothing but you will regain control of your life and that has to be good

You will find all the help and support you need on here as we all help each other just like a family we are here for you every step of the way cheering the good days and sympathising with the bad but the good far outweigh the bad

Read the posts on here you will find a lot of tips and advice and in the signatures of a lot you will find links to other sites just click on them Here are 2 I find very good to start you off whyquit.com and woofmang.com Read, read and then read some more as the more you read and learn about why you smoked and about your addiction the easier your quit will be

This link is good for the psychological part of quittingwhyquit.com/whyquit/A_Sympt...

Post often to let us know how you're doing, to rant, rave have a moan whatever you like pretty much anything goes on here OK

Love

Marg

Most of us on here have taken more than one attempt to quit, my advice is not to be too hard on yourself, lean on us here in the forum when you feel weak/strong/crappy/fabulous!

I dont think i'd have got this far if it wasn't for the support and rants that i have given/listened to...

Good Luck Honey!!! I believe in you!!!

hi there!

The great thing about using this forum as an aid to quittin is that everyone in here is in the same boat. We've all stopped, trying to stop, slipping up and trying again... It doesnt matter what stage you are at what matters is that you've decided enough is enough! :)

Good luck to you! And let us know how you are getting on.

Hi and welcome, well done for stopping smoking.

Take a look at the posts in around 4-6 months and beyond, here is where you will find people who have got that far and feel at ease with their quit, it helps to know others have succeeded. Those around the same time as you have similar thoughts, feelings and symptoms as yourself. There are some very helpful websites in our signatures which explain about the addiction to nicotine, read as much as you can regularly to help you stay stopped.

Wishing you well.

Jackie

You have made the decision to stop that is fantastic, welcome to the forum. Read loads, that will help, post loads, that will help also. Most of us here have quit more times than we care to remember the thing to do now is just not take another puff ever.

Hi Nofnof

been there, done it, got the t-shirt, I spent 5 years trying to quit, and hating myself for not being able to do it. I felt embarrassed going to the ciggy-kiosk in the supermarket to buy the damn things. I finally found this forum and Champix. The Champix stopped me needing nicotene, this forum has kept me off the habit for the last 7 weeks. I've never not smoked for this long before, and i really believe that this time I've done it - and it due to the people here.

We're all in the same boat, so read, read and post - you can do this

Hi nofnof

Just remember...you only fail when you stop trying.

Good luck with it this time...take just one day at a time, or just one hour if that helps.

I tend to agree with Dave here, if you have tried a few times then maybe Champix is the way to go.

This is my first attempt at quitting and I always knew I could not do it CT or with patches so when I found out about Champix I knew my time had come to pack in smoking.

Good luck

Gosh, Nof, coulda written that myself!

I have been quitting, smoking one, quitting, smoking with alcohol, quitting, smoking for a week, quitting again, starting again since July 1 2008- that's nearly a year and a half! This time I've gone a month, I'm treating it as "THE QUIT" and enjoying all the things it brings.I got sick of the cycle of doing it all, and having to quit over and over, there's no "just one" they're bl**dy addictive, and you readdict yourself each time. Just stop, and don't have another. Know in your head you wanna Quit.
