Hi All
Firstly, WELL DONE EVERYONE for continuing as non-smokers; whether it is 2 days or 2 years. I've said it before, reading posts on this forum has given me that extra oomph to ensure I remain a non-smoker. I was on Day 1 of quitting when I first came across this forum. I read and re-read posts from Day 1 to Day 3. Now, what I vividly recall is a sinking of feeling of Week 3's posts being such a loooooooooonnng way off. I couldn't imagine in the first few days that I would be posting a message HALF WAY DOWN the board!!! Well, here I am on Day 15 of being an non-smoker and feeling good. How cool is that??
I'll expand a little as to why I feel so good. I previously posted that I had a "wind" problem. I didn't want to eloborate at the time, but I have IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) and I knew that if I stopped smoking that my bowel could become impacted (as has happened before). It's extremely painful. Anyhow, when I made the decisison to quit, I was not only armed with patches and gum but had additional medication for IBS from G.P. and a strict dietary plan to adhere to. So, I was so absorbed with the possibility that my bowel may become impacted that I forgot to put patches on after 4 days. I was so busy making sure I was stocked up with and preparing the food and drink I needed that.....guess what?........I've lost 3 lbs in weight!!!
The £3 a day that I've gained is the sum my partner has been giving me to put in a money box. It's to be opened next year when I reach the Penthouse like Nic!!! I've already decided that we will be going to Taormina. That's how determined I am.
By the way, I am still having 1 or 2 craves a day and am chewing 1 to 2 bits of gum a day but, I always remember that I am a stronger person than the crave and I can't wait to see the "Willy Bar" again in Castelmola ::D:D: turrisibar.it/index.htm
