I turned into a mummy monster this afternoon..

.. and felt SO bad about it.

I'm just finishing day 3.. and had a really good morning- was okay when my partner smoked outside first thing, while I curled up cuddling my toddler and had coffee.. ( lovely)we went to playgroup, where i got a lot of encouraging support, and then we had kiddies round to play..

They got pretty noisy, and the odd scrap.. and normally my friend & i would nip outside to smaoke.. yet she's giving up too (her first day) so we both felt a bit lost when we felt stressed by the kids.

When they went, my littlie was tired, yet wouldn't sleep, and became a nightmare child- then my teen daughter was rude and stubborn, i was trying to get the house tidyed and get ready for work & cook dinner, and I lost it

I feel bad that i shouted my head off ' I am giving up smoking, i have PMT, my dad is ill.. and you dont help at all!' to my daughter who is normally pretty good:(

I lost my rag with her and the toddler, and stomped off, and wasn't in a good mood at all.. once at work I was fine- weirdly the urge to buy 10 cigs overwhelmed me when i passed the petrol station, but i carried on driving and then at work i sold them all night with no desire to buy/smoke any! ( The smell has started to repell me.. fab!)

It's not my kids fault I was a monster.... any tips for dealing better with the mid afternoon energy slump/tired kids/ needing a break/smoke time?

I am releived its the end of day 3.. tomorrow is a nother day :)

I intend to keep going strong with this!

( But would like to be a nicer mummy)

hello minx!

sounds as if you've being tested today!! just remind yourself that its not the kids-its the nicodemons causing you to 'snap'

get the children to be involved in your stop smoking campaign-explain to them how difficult it is for you right now, so they understand the situation, the best advice is to walk away from situations 'no matter how small' and count to 10!!

you are doing great-and don't beat yourself up about today-kids bounce back!!!

Great job on your first 3 days..... the toughest ones!! I so understand how you feel having turned mommy monster a bit here and there myself..... so what has helped me..... go to bathroom, turn lights off, and do belly breathing..... go back outside and see if I can handle whatever goes on, if not, right back into the bathroom I go :) A little wine (ehm sometimes more than a little) helps me chill at night..... my hypnosis cd helps a little now that my physical cravings are gone.... it didn't help me much when the nic monster was still so strong..... give it time, don't look back..... this is the hardest part and you've done it! It won't get worse now!! Learn new copying strategies.... that is where I am at. Good luck!!

Thank you both- I shall aim for breathing time out today :)

I think i filled my day with too much to get done before work yesterday, and ended up getting in a flap. I apologised to my daughter(15) this morning and we had a hug, so I'm glad she hasn't gone to school thinking her mum is a total moo!

It got to me a bit also because I guessed day 3 would have been easier- yet i found I was snappier yesterday than i had been on day 1 or 2.

Woken up feeling really positive that today is my 4th Quit day, and have stocked up on sweets and off to a friends for a dvd tonight, so will get a break :) :)

Sorry you had a bad afternoon and well done on 3 days quit as the others said it is not you it's those demons so when things get on top of you count to ten or walk away and explain what is happening to children the teenager will I am sure understand and the worst will soon be over for you , really glad you and your 15 year old made up

You are now on day 4 and doing great also that you feel better this morning enjoy your evening just hang in there you can do this

Sorry you had Bad day yesterday but day three can be a bad one. i remember having big row with my yongest son on my day three spent the evening crying. Soooooo pleased you feel better today things shoul start to get much easyer now. Your doing fab hun good for you girl.xxxxx
