The Beer Monster - A Cautionary Tale

For all of you out there who like a bevvie or two (or several)

So its Day 27 and things are looking good - more good days than bad days and even bad days are not too tough - so Clever Me:)

Go to swimming pool and do 40 lengths - feeling good - Clever Clever Me

Go to pub and have a beer - doing OK Clever Clever Me:):)

Even go outside with a buddy whilst he has a smoke - No problem doesn't affect me at all. - Really Clever Me:cool:

Lose track of time - Beer Monster creeps up on me and changes all my tenners into copper and sends me home very worse for wear - Stupid Me :eek

Fall asleep - During night Beer Monster wakes NicoDemon and says here you go buddy I softened him up for you:eek::eek:

Wake up in Morning - Stiff neck, sore head, bleary eyes and the worst cravings since day one - Very Stupid Me :(:(

Serious battle with the Nicodemon only saved by reinforcements of bacon and eggs. - Seriously Relieved Me

Moral to the story - its not just whilst you are drinking that you need to beware - the morning after can be a real killer.:):

  • You got through though that's the main thing :D

  • Clever  Stupid  Relieved :D

Sounds like that night when I was 19, and me and few mates decided to...

...nah, this is not the appropriate place for that particular confession :p

Nice post Andy! On guard at all times!

  • Moral of the story is reach for the bacon! ALL the bacon if necessary! Tastes nicer than fags any day :)

  • Me and the Beer Monster are bessies. He's just about to drag me down the pub again. Its really hard to disappoint him.

Its hard to stay mad with him for long - feeling better now and thinking maybe should pop down pub tonight just to show no hard feelings

  • Well done!

Well done mate for not cracking. I'm on day 29 too. Personally I don't think I'll be drinking for the next six months at least because every time I've quit in the past (longest quit 2 and a half months) it's been a couple of drinks and then "I can have just one" and then back to smoking full on within a week or two.

Keep on keepin on quit brother!
