Welcome to the forum, Charl.

Congrats on getting to day 4, its no mean feat!!

Stay strong and you'll be amazed how soon it gets better.

In the meantime the best thing you can do is read and educate yourself about the addiction and what to expect while quitting. These websites are a good place to start.

If you can change the way you think about smoking then you will have a much easier ride. The basic idea is that if you can see quitting as gaining a better life rather than sacrificing something, as don't regard cigs as some kind of forbidden fruit then you are pretty much there.

All the best and keep posting.

Welcome and well done Charl. :)

Nic's got this advice giving lark thoroughly nailed down and you'd not be doing a bad thing in heeding his comments.

But you are already doing the right things by attempting to divert yourself instead of giving into the urge. Post away with your concerns, comments, rants etc.

Keep on keeping on :D

You gotta be thinking a tad bit more positively I'd suggest. After all you made a decision at some point to stop smoking and implemented that. What were those reasons? If they were good enough before should they not also be now?

But yes it's different somehow to think prior to making that life changing decision and then sticking with it. Stopping smoking can be a huge struggle if you aren't properly prepared. But you can make it easier by reading various posts on this forum, visiting the hyperlinks below in my signature, and just basically diverting yourself.

You've already proven that you are strong by starting to quit and that's something that you should be proud about and take as a positive to your experience so far. It's a wee spin to your mindset, but an important spin which if you haven't realised yet is to be positive knowing that you are potentially doing one of the most beneficial things to yourself.

Sipping water often helped me in my early days and I pretty much walked around with a water bottle all my waking hours.

And don't be afraid to ask questions, rant, or just post a load of sh!te as a diversion :D
